2016 spring travel of the Faculty of Political Economy

Dau Pagoda, Bac Ninh
On the morning February 16th 2016, Faculty of Political Economy held spring trip to visit the famous temples in Bac Ninh province. The trip was leading by the dean of Faculty of Political Economy - Dr.Pham Van Dung and all faculty staffs in Faculty of Political Economy


On this trip, the delegation visited many famous temples and pagodas in Bac Ninh: Dau Pagoda, Keo pagoda, But Thap Pagoda, Phat Tich Pagoda, Do temple.

Coming to Dau Pagoda, also known as Dien Ung, Phap Van, or Co Chau, is a temple located in Thanh Khuong commune, Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province, about 30 km from Hanoi. Temple is also named different names by residents, such as Ca Pagoda, Co Chau Tu, Duyen Ung Tu. This temple is considered as the most ancient pagoda in Vietnam.

But Thap Pagoda (Ninh Phuc Tu) located in the Duong river dykes, Thap village, Dinh To commune, Thuan Thanh district, Bac Ninh province. In otherside, people in the region called as Nhan Thap Pagoda. In temple, there is a largest wooden statue “Bo tat Quan the Am nghin mat nghin tay” in Vietnam.

Phat Tich Pagoda (Phat Tich tu), also known as Van Phuc temple (Van Phuc tu) located in the southern slopes of Phat Tich Mountain (also called Lan Kha mountain, Tien moutain), Phat Tich commune, Tien Du District, Bac Ninh province. There is the biggest stone Buddha statue in Ly Dynasty in Vietnam.

Do temple - also known as Co Phap Dien or Ly Bat De temple, was built in the 11th century (1030), on an area of southeast Huong Co Phap, Chau Co Phap (Dinh Bang village). According to a monk master, Ly Van Hanh, the land under the convergence of natural soul, which has converged of 8 heads of dragon. According to legend, there is a Bang jungle in front of temple in the past, with Tieu Tuong stream flowing through. 

When the King, Ly Cong Uan, passed away (1028), Ly Thai Tong throne his father, he had rebuilt old houses and chosen as places of worship for his father. After that, there became places of worship temple of Ly dynasty kings. When the King, Ly Cong Uan, was throned and returned homeland in that February 1010, the king stopped the boat to visit the elders, Thai Hau mausoleum and measured fifty miles as "Son Lang forbidden area ". Residents in Dinh Bang village have built a big house as a place of welcoming to the king.

After visiting pagodas, temples in Bac Ninh, Faculty of Political Economy delegation knew more about the history of the pagodas in Bac Ninh in particular and Vietnam in general.

Ending spring trip activity is an intimate dinner with best wishes for all members in Faculty of Political Economy in the new year!
