The Global Partnership of Asian Colleges - GPAC 2023: Connecting intelligence, passion, and creativity

The Global Partnership of Asian Colleges - GPAC 2023 with the theme "The Future of the Asia-Pacific Economy" brings together more than 100 lecturers and students from 5 prestigious universities, thereby helping Vietnamese students hone their skills and enhance their ability to integrate internationally.


Taking place from August 26 to August 31, this is the 4th time the VNU-UEB has hosted this event. The forum attracted the participation of more than 100 students and lecturers from 5 prestigious universities, including: Chiba University of Commerce (Japan), Seoul National University (Korea), University of Chengchi National University (Taiwan), Waseda University Japan and University of Economics and Business - VNU.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr Le Trung Thanh, Rector of the UEB emphasized: "We are very happy to host the Asian Student Forum for the 4th time. We hope that the students will have impressive presentations that demonstrate the intelligence and creativity of the young generation in joining hands to develop the Asia-Pacific economy in the future. At the same time, it brings valuable opportunities for cultural, academic and social exchanges."

Over the course of the two primary days at the forum, competition teams engaged in research activities, group discussions focused on the main competition themes and presentations to the professional council. The research topics were categorized into three presentation branches, covering areas such as regional economic integration, digital transformation and the future of work, and economic growth and development in emerging markets. Expert grading committees evaluated these presentations, and each day, the council recognized the top presentation with the "Best Paper" award, culminating in the ultimate "Best of the Best" prize.

With an impressive presentation, and answering most of the questions from the expert panel, the group that won the "Best Paper" award on the first day of the exam (Coredate 1) went to Economics Group 1 from NCCU - Taiwan with the paper "Analysis of the current status and effectiveness of the RMB Internationalization policy".

On day 2 (Coredate 2), teams competed in a mixed group format, teams from 5 countries were divided into 8 groups to discuss the main topic of the forum. Results of 3 groups: Group G: Green Logistics; Group A: Green Tourism; Group B: Digital Workforce won the "Best paper" award. The final result, the "Best of the Best" award was given to group G with a presentation on "Green Logistics".

In addition to academic exchange activities, students participating in the forum also have the opportunity to experience and visit famous Vietnamese landmarks such as the Temple of Literature, Hanoi Old Quarter, and Trang An Complex, Ninh Binh... and experience Vietnamese culture.

With the strategy of internationalizing education, the school has been promoting international cooperation and exchange activities in the fields of teaching and research to make the University of Economics a knowledge centre of the region and the world. Global.

GPAC was initiated in 1991 by Professor. Min Sang Kee, former Vice Principal of Seoul National University, Korea and Professor. Haruo Shimada, former Principal of Chiba University of Commerce, Japan, is currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tokyo Metropolitan School, with the hope of creating an ideal playground and helping students from other countries. Different countries have the opportunity to exchange hot economic issues in the region, thereby promoting the common development of Asia. The program takes place annually in Asian countries and territories: Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan, Israel and Vietnam.

After 32 years, currently, the number of official members has reached 10 schools, including: Seoul National University (Korea), Chiba University of Commerce (Japan), Waseda University (Japan), Keio University (Japan), Meio University (Japan), National Chengchi University (Taiwan), Southwest University of Finance and Economics (China), Academy of Management Science Research (Israel), Tokyo Metropolitan University (Japan) and University of Economics and Business - VNU (Vietnam).
