The Faculty of Development Economics, VNU
University of Economics and Business was established on 3rd March, 2008. The
Faculty of Development Economics has stabilized its organization and operation,
enhanced its cooperation with important strategic partners and prepared its
human resources for development and progress in the coming years.

III. FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Functions:
The
Faculty of Development Economics, VNU University of Economics and Business has
the function of organizing and implementing training activities, scientific
research, service, consultancy, domestic and international cooperation in terms
of development economics under the operational framework of the UEB.
2. Responsibilities:
- Providing full-time
bachelor programs in development economics
- Providing post-graduate
programs including: Master in Maritime Economics (honors programs) and Master
in Public Policy and Development (standard programs)
- Providing short-term
training courses in development economics.
- Providing consultancy
services, researching and supplying services related to development economics
- Cooperating with domestic
and international partners in training and research on development economics.

V. PROGRAMS AND LEVELS
OF TRAINING
The Faculty of Development Economics has offered
the training program “Bachelor in Development Economics” since the academic
year of 2008-2009. Since 2011, the Faculty has started the double degree
training program in Management of Environmental Resources with the VNU
University of Science. Since 2012, the Faculty has started the double degree
training program with the VNU School of Law.
The Faculty is offering 2 Master programs in
Public Policy & Development and Maritime Economics. For the coming years,
the Faculty will cooperate with international and domestic institutions for
joint training programs.
One of the Faculty's priorities is to complete the program systems, curricula and
reference materials in accordance with modern international standard.
VI. SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH
The Faculty of Development Economics has
constantly undertaken scientific research in economics and development, taken
part in research projects of the UEB, the VNU and national projects, cooperated
with research institutions inside and outside of the VNU, with experts and
international research institutions. The research products with high quality
affirm the prestige of the Faculty, having great scientific and practical
significance as well as directly connecting with the training process. Research
activities undertaken by orders from domestic and international organizations
and individuals will also be implemented with top quality.
The key research areas of the Faculty of Development
Economics: Including different research orientations, undertaken by
domestic and international experts and senior researchers:
- Sector economics:
maritime economics, agriculture and aquaculture, industry, services, in-depth
economic growth, productivity etc.
- Sustainable development:
Environment economics, climate change, poverty and inequality, knowledge
economy etc.
- Development of public
sector: Public policy and development, institutionalization etc.
- These research orientation based on economics and quantitative
methods (including fuzzy set method).
VII. COOPERATION -
DEVELOPMENT
- Expanding
the cooperation and enhancing the association with domestic and foreign
universities, research centers in development economics
- Setting
up training and research programs in public policies with foreign partners
- Cooperating
with ministries and local authorities in training and conducting research in
public policies and development.
VIII. TARGETS AND
DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATIONS
1. General target: Directly
under the responsibility of the VNU University of Economics and Business, the
dynamic and harmonious development of The Faculty of Development Economics plays
an important role in improving the scientific position of the UEB, making contribution
to dealing with theoretical and practical issues of Vietnam in the process of
development and international integration.
2. Development orientations: By 2025, become one of the Vietnam's leading
institutions in research and training in the field of development economics.
