Research purposes:

The thesis gave a brief introduction of basic theories relating to Franchise mode. The international experience of franchise application was analyzed. At the same time, how franchise mode was used by the enterprises in Vietnam during the period from 1990s to 2006 was mentioned. Moreover, in terms of Franchise application, Vietnam and those countries were compared for lessons learned.

There were clear benefits and challenges for Vietnamese enterprises when they applied the Franchise mode after Vietnam had joined WTO. The potential development of Franchise was projected. Some measures were proposed to facilitate this mode in Vietnam.

The thesis had update data and analyzed a number of case studies relating to the experience as well as processes of franchise application in some countries. In addition, several Vietnam’s enterprises who used the franchise mode successfully were introduced.

Policy makers, enterprises and consumers who are concerned to Franchise mode could find this thesis a good reference.
