“I hope my students can see the world through my eyes…”

Passionate and devoted to the career of nurturing students in education, lecturer Ping He of the Joint Training program BSBA Troy - UEB always has new ideas in teaching methods to support UEB-Troy’s students.

Lecturers with many years of experience in the profession

For the 3rd and 4th year of UEB-TROY students, Assoc.Prof.Dr Ping He is no longer a strange name. Currently, she is teaching 4 majors of the BBA Troy Bachelor of Business Administration: Business Communication, Principles of Supervision, Management in a Global Environment, Principles of Management Organization Behavior.

With nearly 14 years of experience in classroom teaching combined with online teaching and being the co-author of more than 20 magazine publications and receiving the 2016 Best Paper of Track Award, Ms. Ping He easily integrates and finds the suitable method for international students.

Sharing her feelings about her first business trip to Vietnam, she was so impressed by the hospitality of local people, the diversity of the culture and specialities of Hanoi. Especially, her “native-like” appearance has made an unforgettable memory that local people keep using Vietnamese when talking to her.

One of her most memorable memories with UEB-TROY students is the "CITE X'MAS EMBERS Christmas Party" event in 2019 where she met students directly. At the event, she has the chance to listen to UEB-TROY students’ sharing as well as the difficulties that students had faced. All have erased the separation between different cultures and evoked many beautiful memories of Vietnamese students in Ms. Ping He's heart.

The one who inspires Vietnamese students

Having lived, studied and worked in China, Germany and the United States for many years, Ms. He sees things from a multicultural perspective. “Maxwell Neil, an American scholar, has shown that students learn best through explanations, examples, and experiences,” she said.

Inspired by this teaching philosophy, the lecturer has applied it to impart knowledge with examples and encourage experimentation in order to help students see the world through her eyes. It brings her joy when students find what they learn useful and put their knowledge and skills into practice.

Among the subjects she teaches at UEB-TROY, BUS 3382 (Business Communications) is an important subject in creating a stepping stone for students to have a healthy competitive spirit. Therefore, Ms. Ping He's BUS 3382 class always attracts UEB-TROY students because of her interesting method of imparting knowledge and the way she applies real-life examples.

By attending this class, she will guide students through the fundamentals of business communication: writing effective emails, writing impressive resumes and cover letters, and getting students ready for an interview when apply for jobs and demonstrating communication skills. All of these are essential in a student's future career.

Taking the motto of actively innovating teaching methods, the female lecturer advocates putting students at core, promoting the positivity, initiative and creativity of learners. She is passionate about applying information technology to build electronic lesson plans, making lectures more lively and attractive, giving students excitement and passion for the subject. Regarding students' questions, she answers those in detail.

Tran Ha Trang - Troy K17B alumnus shared: “Miss Ping He is a very approachable person with a high sense of responsibility at work. She is always ready to answer questions in both academic and personal matters. In particular, she always starts the lesson with life stories or stories about life in the US and often links the lesson content to the outside reality along with sharing personal experiences.”

For students, Ms. He not only teaches knowledge, she also teaches them with all her heart and care like her own children. Perhaps that's why many generations of international students at UEB-Troy always remember her as a foreign lecturer wholeheartedly about students.

The one who captures emotions through frames

Besides teaching time, Ms. Ping He shared that her passion for photography started when she was young. She bought a film camera and shot for friends, discovering beautiful camera angles when she had time.

Though Ms. He is innundated with a teaching career at Troy University, she never left her photography passion. She considered taking photography as a way to spread positive energy to everyone. She takes a camera or uses a smartphone to capture beautiful moments of life around her and share with her friends.

With the passion and high concentration on what she is pursuing, we believe that she will continue to make efforts to support UEB-TROY students in their studies as well as her personal development. We also hope that Ms. Ping He can come to Vietnam to teach directly and explore more and more Vietnam picturesque landscape when the pandemic ends.
