At the invitation of the Asian Development Bank Research Institute (ADBI), Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van, Associate Dean of Banking and Finance Faculty, University of Economics and Business, Vietnam National University, Hanoi presented at the International Forum of Financial Consumers in 2019.
The Global Forum for Financial Consumers 2019 took place at Gadjah Mada University, Yogyakarta, Indonesia in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank Research Institute and International Academy of Financial Consumers - IAFICO. This is an annual forum of the International Academy of Financial Consumers since 2014. The forum aims to help researchers, policy makers and practice share knowledge, information, research on financial services products in the world, international regulatory principles and financial consumer education in countries. The Forum 2019 has more than 100 presentations in 3 main discussion sessions and over 30 in-depth discussion sessions with nearly 600 participants.

The 2019 forum was attended by many famous researchers and planners in the world on financial education such as Dr. Peter Morgan from ADBI, or Dr. Adele Akinson from the Organization for Economic Development Cooperation (OECD), Dr. Sharon Tennyson from Cornell University or Minister of Finance in Indonesia, President of International Financial Consumer Association, Chief Representative of Korea Consumer Association ... Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van presented at the second main discussion session, at the Great Hall with the content of the discussion session of 4 speakers with topic: financial understanding and financial consumers. Presentation of Dr. Van is titled as “Measuring financial knowledge and experience in financial education for start-up households in Vietnam”. Dr. Van said the presentation was led by Prof. Sharon Tennyson, discussion of Dr. Adele Atkinson and received many questions of attendees.

Presenting at the Forum is an opportunity for lecturers from the University of Economics and Business, VNU to share their financial training experience in Vietnam, to compare the financial knowledge of people in Vietnam with international ones. and continue to promote research on personal finance in Vietnam. In addition, joining the Forum also gives lecturers an opportunity to interact and learn with leading researchers on personal finance and finance education all around the world.
