Purpose:

  • Based on the common rationale on financial crisis and the role of the IMF in the international financial system in general and in the financial crisis in particular, the essay assesses the coordination policies between Asian governments and the IMF in financial crisis recovery setting to draw out the lessons for Vietnam during the development process, particularly that of financial independence and international economic integration
Missions:

+ To generalize the logic of financial crisis and the role of the IMF in the international financial system and in the financial crisis

+ To analyze the viewpoints and to support the policies of the IMF in view of crisis recovery policies of some Asian governments and to assess the results of the coordination policies between Asian Governments and the IMF in the financial crisis setting

+ To draw the lessons for Vietnam in preventing and dealing with the financial-monetary crisis

New contributions: Apart from systematizing the general rationale on financial crisis models and clarifying the roles of the IMF in the international financial system in general and in the financial crisis in particular, the essay offers some contributions such as:

  • Assessing the coordination policies between Asian governments and the IMF for financial crisis recovery.
  • Drawing some lessons and directions for application in Vietnam in preventing and dealing with the financial crisis.
