Objectives:

On the basis of generalizing systematically basic issues of financial and currency crises and the role of IMF in the international financial system in general and in financial and currency crises in particular, the subject focus on analyzing policies of IMF in overcoming the Asian financial and currency crisis 1997-1998, so as to evaluate the role of IMF in the crisis and the prospect of role of IMF in the future.

Main contents:

Generalize systematically basic issues of financial and currency crises and the role of IMF in the international financial system in general and in financial and currency crises in particular. These are important bases of arguments used to research.

Generalizing the Asian financial and currency crisis 1997-1998, the subject analyzes the concept, policies of supporting of IMF for crisis countries and IMF- supported policies of Asian Governments to overcome the crisis.

On the basis of evaluating the role of IMF in overcoming the Asian financial and currency crisis, the subject generalizes the economic and financial crisis today with different characteristics, showing challenges to the role of IMF and the prospect of role of IMF in the future.
