73 graduates of MPPM receive master diploma

On 16th June 2012, the VNU University of Economics and Business has organized the commencement for 73 graduates of Master Program in Public Management, joint training program between the university and Uppsala University.

At the ceremony, there were Mr. Damien Cole - Ambassador of Ireland to Vietnam; Mr. Mathias Blob - Director of MPPM joint training program; Mr. Son Phuoc Hoan - Vice Director of Committee of Ethnic Minorities Affairs; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - VNU Permanent Vice President; Dr. Vu Anh Dzung - UEB Vice Rector; Uppsala University representatives and faculty members of the two universities together with 73 graduates.
The joint training program of MPPM between Uppsala University and VNU University of Economics and Business has enrolled 6 intakes of nearly 300 graduates. The training program has been demonstrated to be a promising program, which meets the requirements of the social development, contributing to strengthen the relationship between Sweden and Vietnam. Particularly, in intake 4, the UEB has participated in the project “Improving the planning and implementation quality of poverty reduction policy for ethnic minorities” by Embassy of Ireland and Committee of Ethnic Minorities Affairs.
To open the commencement, Dr. Vu Anh Dzung - UEB Vice Rector confirmed that: “We are proud to provide students the latest knowledge of public management in the world and equipped with leadership skills to become good managers in the public sector. With a Master diploma in Public Management, you are expected to improve your awareness of your responsibilities as well as a new perspective on the importance of education in shaping the public management in Vietnam. The future of public administration in Vietnam will be developed through your devotion and research. The program not only aims to provide you with professional skills but also convey a sense of social leadership, in which citizens are set in the core to public service management at different levels. " 
Mr. Son Phuoc Hoan has emphasized the role of leadership, especially the initiative of managers and officials in mountain areas. Therefore, the MPPM has positively contributed to the human resources improvement of the country, especially in minority and mountain areas. With knowledge and skills equipped, graduates would meet the requirements of the renovation of the country, contributing to the administration renewal in Vietnam towards its industrialization and modernization.
As stated by Mr. Damien Cole, the training of masters in Public Management is one of crucial sections of the support from Ireland to Vietnam in hunger and poverty reduction. Poverty reduction for ethnic minorities is one of the priorities of Irish government. He committed that the Irish government is continuing their support to Vietnam in the hunger and poverty reduction.
In such a moment of the ceremony, Ms. Son Thi Thanh Loc (Khmer minority), a 4th intake outstanding graduate has share: “As a female official, when participating in this training program, I have to overcome several difficulties. However, I am proud of being a member of UEB - Uppasla community. I hope that the lessons from Swedish and Vietnamese lecturers would help me and the people where I am living stay out of the hunger and poverty”.
