UEB – FDE students study and interact with international lecturers: Bridging the gap between theory and practice in the context of global integration

Increasing academic interactions between Vietnamese and international students is one of the greatest opportunities for student to access new environments, reassert their individually and confidence, as well as enhance their chances for global integration. In recent years, the University of Economics and Business – VNU and the Faculty of Development Economics in particular have worked to internationalize their educational programs. This activity contributes to that effort by fostering an environment where students can grow comprehensively and confidently and make strides toward becoming global citizens of the future.

Students from the Faculty of Development Economics had an opportunity to join a class with 2 international lecturers: PhD. Nguyen Hoang Phuong – Lecturer at the School of Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Iowa, USA and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marta Wajda-Lichy from the University of Economics Cracow Poland. Not only learning multi-dimensional knowledge about the economy but also listening to practice sharing career stories, lessons and practical problems from businesses, thereby acquiring new knowledge as well as practical solutions to business problems.

The Public Economics class of the Faculty of Development Economics, University of Economics and Business - VNU, taught by PhD. Truong Thu Ha became more special with the participation of PhD. Nguyen Phuong Hoang - Lecturer at the School of Planning and Public Affairs at the University of Iowa, USA. In this lesson, he and UEB - FDE students discussed taxes as well as tax classification and economic efficiency. Besides, the teacher also gave practical examples to make the acquisition of knowledge easier as well as create a close atmosphere with UEB students. 

PhD. Nguyen Hoang Phuong helps students connect their understanding of Microeconomics with specific insights for studying Econometrics, in addition to offering more information about the subject of Public Economics that they are studying. Students may get a general understanding of taxes and the global economy by fusing the content of the course with practical legal knowledge. Students can also learn about corporate ethics via this integration.

Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong highlighted the fundamental taxes and their efficacy throughout the talk. Additionally, he made several contacts with Vietnam and received a ton of insightful queries from pupils. Some students kept Mr. Phuong from saying goodbye by engaging him in discussion in flawless English and allowing them to snap a keepsake shot of this important and instructive session.

Not only experience the class with PhD. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, students at K65, Faculty of Development Economics, University of Economics and Business- VNU welcomed a very special guest - Associate Professor Dr. Marta Wajda-Lichy from the Cracow University of Economics, Poland taught the Intensive Macroeconomics module. 

In the first class, Ms. Marta spoke with her students on the topic: Why Countries Cooperate: Empirical Evidence from European Economies, from Free Trade Agreements to Full Economic and Monetary Union. In this lesson, students gained a strong understanding of the degrees, types, and economic effects of European integration as well as the phases of integration. Additionally, Ms. Marta uses real-world examples to make learning simpler and foster a personal relationship with UEB students.

Besides the class with Dr. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, a student of UEB - FDE also had the opportunity to attend a class with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marta Wajda-Lichy from Cracow University of Economics, Poland
 
In the second session, students of the Faculty of Development Economics continued to have access to the problem: A single currency market: Do EU countries need a currency? - Operational experience of the euro area. Through this lesson, students have a somewhat deepened understanding of exchange rates, and at the same time know the advantages and disadvantages of the fixed exchange rate regime compared to the floating exchange rate. In addition, Prof. Dr. Marta Wajda-Lichy mentioned the motivation for introducing the euro and how the euro area was organized and governed through the example of the European Central Bank's policy experience.
 
 Not only studying the theoretical content of the intensive Macroeconomics module, UEB - FDE students also had the opportunity to exchange with Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marta Wajda-Lichy about stories and lessons about the European economy in the post-pandemic context
 

Since the Pandemic took place, students of the Faculty of Development Economics, UEB – VNU have been acquainted and have had interesting online lessons with international lecturers. In addition to the “abstract” theoretical framework, UEB students can experience such ideas through the multifaceted and practical lenses of instructors from the top respected universities in the world. The University of Economics and Business, in general, and the Faculty of Development Economics, in particular, will continue to implement the flexible classroom mode, fostering engaging learning interactions and exchanges between UEB students and lecturers, as well as between UEB students and international students, in order to aid students in integrating into society, advancing their knowledge, and developing into skilled global citizens in the future.
