University of Economics and Business - VNU Co-organized the Seminar “50 years of Diplomatic Relations Between Vietnam and the UK: Achievements and Prospects”

On March 21, 2023, the Seminar “50 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK: Achievements and Prospects" organized by the University of Economics and Business - VNU, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations (VUFO), the British Embassy in Hanoi, the Vietnam - UK Friendship Association co-organized on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the UK.

 The workshop consisted of 3 discussion sessions with the following contents: Overview of Vietnam - UK relations; Economic cooperation, trade and investment between Vietnam and the UK; People-to-people exchange; and cooperation in the fields of culture and society between Vietnam and the UK.

The workshop attracted the participation of delegates from the British Embassy in Vietnam, the British Council, the British Chamber of Commerce, the British Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, the Vietnam Friendship Association, and the Vietnam-UK Friendship Association, representatives of central agencies, ministries, universities and research institutions, mass organizations and representatives of some British businesses in Vietnam.

As a co-organizer, the University of Economics and Business - VNU had the participation of Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Truc Le - Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Trustee; Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Anh Thu – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr Ha Van Hoi - Dean of the Faculty of Economics & International Business; along with other lecturers.

In the opening speech, Mr Phan Anh Son – Vice President and General Secretary of VUFO, reviewed the important milestones in the relations between the two countries.

Before the official discussions began, representatives of the University of Economics and Business - VNU, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Truc Le - Chairman of the Board of Trustees; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector donated economics books published by the university for delegates participating in the seminar.

In the closing speech of the seminar, Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Truc Le - Vice President of Vietnam - UK Friendship Association emphasized: “The issues mentioned in today's workshop will continue to be the premise for the 2 countries to continue to cultivate, strengthen, develop, meet aspirations, bring practical benefits to the two peoples, and at the same time contribute to maintaining peace, stability and development cooperation in the region and In the world; constantly consolidated and developed in important fields such as security - defence, development cooperation, education - training, science and technology, sustainable development, people-to-people exchange, creating a platform firmly for the development of bilateral relations.”
