Being more active after the internship at University of Economics and Business - VNU

Ngoc Huyen received internship certificate from UEB - VNU
After a three-month internship at VNU University of Economics and Business, Nguyen Ngoc Huyen has changed from a shy, introverted girl into a more dynamic and open-minded in many tasks that she was given.

Guiding the delegation of George Mason University to visit Hanoi during their short training course at UEB in January, 2018 was the first task that Huyen had full authority to make decisions since she began the internship at Office of Research and Partnership Development. Huyen had opportunity to use her English skills and express herself through this activity.

Before the internship, Huyen was quite timid and quiet, UEB hesitated when recruiting Huyen as an intern, but they believed that there would be ways to help her to integrate well and change herself in a positive way. At the beginning of the internship, Huyen was assigned to do such tasks as administrative work and updating databases. However, after that, Huyen increasingly expressed the desire to take on a more important task, so she prepared very well to guide and support the foreign delegation during their short course at UEB.

Huyen didn't fail the expectations of the University when she and a former intern (Ngoc Anh) supported and guided the delegation (over 20 people) to visit Van Phuc Silk village, see water puppet show and visit the Temple of Literature. At the end of the week, professors and students of George Mason University were extremely pleased with 2 enthusiastic and friendly “guide”.

Commenting on Huyen, MSc. Nguyen Duc Lam - Deputy Head of Office of Research and Partnership Development said: At first, Huyen was quite timid and she didn't dare to do anything herself even though she could. However, when she had chance to communicate with international delegations, her dynamism and flexibility were considerably improved.

Huyen's desire is to continue improving her English skills in order to become an excellent interpreter, to travel to many different places and experience many cultures. She thinks that the internship at UEB has helped her a lot in transferring knowledge from theory to practices as well as overcoming her shyness to communicate with adults and foreigners.
