1. Training program of Honored International Economics Bachelor is approved: With the preeminence as compared to regular training program, Honored Bachelor training program in International Economics is one of the first programs of the country which are verified the quality. This is a remarkable progress in the quality assurance of University of Economics and Business. The program is assessed based on the criteria of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. According to assessment of Quality Assurance Committee of VNU, although this is the first time to assess a training program in Vietnam, the implementation was excuted seriously, accurately and in the approach of international standards.

2. Establishing the Enrollment Board for Further Education and number of registering graduates highly increased: This was the first time University of Economics and Business established the Enrollment Board for Further Education… Although facing many difficulties, with enduring efforts of its Management Board and leaders of deparments, centers, University of Economics and Business has received the agreement of VNU President in establishing Enrollment Board for Further Education. The examination has been organized seriously, safely and respectably.

3. Publishing Vietnam Annual Economic Report: One of the remarkable events of scientific research of University of Economics and Business - VNU in 2009 was that Vietnam Center for Economic & Policy Research developed and published “Vietnam economic report 2008: Recession and the Challenge of Change.” The report drew public interest, not only from researching world but also among policy making agents and enterprises. The report was also extracted the recommendations to submit to Office of the Central Party Committee, Economic Committee of the Parliament, and was placed an order by The Central Theoretical Council for the next annual reports.

4. Studying the training project in approach CDIO method: CDIO is stands for: Conceive, Design, Implement và Operate which refers to the training method for technical majors. CDIO approaching method reprects the usage of “positive learning tools,” such as respecting a graduated engineer’s essencial skills and qualifications. The base of CDIO was formed at Massachusetts Institute of Technolofy (MIT) by the end of 1990s, and has been applied successfully by renowned universities in the world. Ministry of Education & Training as well as Vietnam National University have refered several times but have not yet gained the result. However, University of Economics and Business has been successful in testing application of the project and was classified the excellence level.

5. Cooperative and continuing education (domestic and international) sharply develops, in which UEB opened two international cooperative training programs which has the outstanding advance in terms of scale (bilingual MBA program with Benedictine University, the U.S.) and prestige (Public Management program with Uppsala University): In 2009, University of Economics and Business - VNU has connected its training program frames with that of many prestigious and high ranking universities in the world. Massey University - New Zealand develops the existing bilateral cooperation with UEB in 2+2 continuing training model in Finance - Banking Bachelor, Beneditine University (The U.S.) cooperates with UEB in MBA bilingual program and Uppsala University (Sweden) opens Master of Public and Private Management (MPPM). Inspite of one year since its establishment, Center for International Training & Education has been successfully performing in receiving and implementing international programs.

6. Organizing international seminars presented by Prof. Tom Cannon, Prof.Dr. Susan Schwab: It was the first time when University of Economics and Business invited the world’s prestigious scholars to come and present at international seminars which the university organized. Those were “Overcoming Crisis, Building a Sustainable Future for Vietnam” and “Innovation and Leadership in Entrepreneurship and Business Development” by Prof. Tom Cannon - the leading policy advisor from Liverpool University, the U.K. and Chief Executive of Ideopolis International.

After Prof. Tom Cannon events was that , Former U.S. Trade Representative visited Vietnam and presented: “Golbal trade issues and Vietnam’s position in America’s economic development strategy in Asia”.

Those events has contributed in honoring the image of VNU and UEB in inviting renowned scholars of the world to Vietnam to speak and discuss enterprises managements, lecturers, students about economics issues; creating the base for other scholars’ visits and cooperation with the university.

7. Establishing the Unit-level Council for Title of Professor and many lecturers of UEB were recognized the title of Associated Professor: In 2009, after great efforts to develop its human resource, University of Economics and Business met the requirements by State Council for Title of Professor (SCTP) to approve the Unit-level Council for Title of Professor (UCTP). UCTP of University of Economics and Business runs under the Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha’s presidentship, other members are lecturers of the university. The Council is aimed to judge the standards of professor and associated proffesor title according to SCTP’s ones. In 2009, the Council received 8 register files, submitted the SCTP 5 files. The result was that all of 5 files were approved.

8. Establishing Economics Branch Council under VNU and publishing Journal of Economics - Business: This is a major achievement of scientific research of the university. The event proved that University of Economics and Business - VNU has obtained notable progresses in scientists’ quality and quantity. The establishment allowed UEB be more active in proposing priority research orientations in economy and business, as well as gathering all the sources to develop strong and effective research teams. Together with the establishment of Economics Branch Council, University of Economics and Business - VNU was successful in publishing Journal of Economics - Business (Scientific Journal). This was an important step of the affirmation of the quality and position of a research university. The journal became the reliable address to put research findings; moreover, it attracts renowned international authors’ and researchers’ articles.

9. Setting up and utilizing international video conference hall: University of Economics and Business has set up international conference hall for the first time. The hall is equipped modern technological equipments, from infrared interpreting system for at least 2 languages (English and French), video system (television bridge), it can connect globally, visual and audio devices, projector and modern internet line… It is a favorable condition for the university to organize modern, international seminars, workshops.

10. Establishing UEB Alumni Association (UEBAA): In order to gather and encourage numerous UEB alumni generations to uphold the unity and mutual support in studying, working. It also creates the strong linkage, collaboration between the university and alumni community in training, research, business, service and human resource development. UEBAA was established on 14^th November 2009 right after the first meeting. At the meeting, many alumni could not hide their feeling of happiness and pride when coming back to the university, gathering with old friends and teachers. They are successful people who hold many  important positions in authorities and enterprises. UEBAA’s establishment marked a significant step in developing the linkage among alumni generations as well as between the alumni and the university. It also creates a potential forum to exchange and cooperate. Since then, University of Economics and Business has many more developing opportunities from its alumni generations.

With the above achievements. University of Economics and Business - VNU stand ready to enter the new age - raising age “fly high - fly far.”
