Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son makes presentation at the Conference
From 17/9 to 19/9/2013, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, Rector of VNU-UEB has attended and made a presentation at the international conference “Assessing ASEAN’s Readiness by Country: Opportunities, Concerns, and Preparedness towards the AEC 2015” in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Conference is hosted by Institute of East Asian Studies, Thammasat University, Thailand under the framework of ASEAN Watch Project supported by the Thailand Research Fund (TRF), in partnership with the National Multimedia Group and Siam Joint Stock Commercial Bank, Thailand.
Attending the conference were 300 representatives from public sector, private sector, research institutions, universities, non-government organizations in Thailand and economic experts from nine ASEAN countries (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Myanmar). There was also Former Prime Minister of Malaysia HE Tun Dr. Mahathir Bin Mohamad and Former ASEAN General Secretary Surin Pitsuwan...
The conference was held to assess the readiness and the opportunities and challenges for ASEAN countries as well as for regional investors as the ASEAN member countries joined ASEAN Economic Community (AEC, as planned, will be established in 2015).
Making presentation at the conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son has shown the commitment and the implementation of those commitment of Vietnam’s participation in the AEC, the opportunities and challenges of joining AEC to Vietnam’s economy and to foreign investors. The content of the speech is the primary result and findings of the research team at the State level project "New international context and the participation of Vietnam in ASEAN Economic Community" chaired by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son.
After the conference, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, together with experts from nine ASEAN countries attended the meeting with the experts of TRF which was chaired by Vice Chairman of the Fund to discuss and exchange ideas on issues of the joint research on ASEAN under the sponsorship of TRF.
The deep involvement in regional research activities is the step to realize the connection orientation and develop international research network by VNU-UEB, while increasing the human resources for research capacity enhancement of VNU-UEB’s faculty.
