Recently, on 17th March, representatives of Dow Chemical Company (USA) had a working visit to VNU University of Economics and Business.
Attending the meeting, there were Mr. Nguyen Hoai Son - Head of External Relations, Ms. Ngo Thanh Thao - Human Resource Office, Ms. Renay Loper and Ms. Alexandra O’Connor - Experts of the program “Leadership in Action”. From the UEB, there were Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet - Dean of Faculty of Development Economics.
Opening the meeting, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu introduced to the guests about development orientation, training and research activities of the UEB, mentioning the newly-opened programs as well as the main research orientation of the University.
Discussing with leaders of the UEB, representatives of Dow said, since 2013, Dow Chemical International implemented the program Leadership in Action. The program is to meet the world’s most basic needs by matching interested and capable employee(s) with organizations that need support for sustainable development projects, especially in emerging geographies and areas of growth for Dow. The areas supported by the program include education development, sustainable community development, food productivity, prevention of waste, recycling and water access... Therefore, the program can support the UEB in providing experts, consulting about training models as well as developing newly-open training programs.
At the meeting, representatives of Dow Chemical and the UEB also discuss some other activities, such as: short-term training program on green growth for lecturers/staff and local employees, research on green public spending, start-up competition for students named Genesis Start-up…
Ending the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue exchanging the information and cooperate in the program, which is expected to be implemented in May 2017.
