UEB representatives attend to the seminar “Building Partnership in Higher Education: Opportunities and Challenges for Vietnam and the U.S.”

With more than 20 sessions of reports, discussion, the seminar was held within 2 days 14 and 15 January 2010 by the United States Embassy in Hanoi, Vietnam National University and Ministry of Education & Training.


Attending to the seminar were U.S. Ambassador Michael W. Michalak; Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Education and Training Ministry Nguyen Thien Nhan, Prof.Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan - VNU President and representatives from 250 universities and colleges of Vietnam and the U.S with more 500 participants are managers, researchers and policy makers of two countries.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - Rector and Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet - Director of Office of Research & Partnership Development - University of Economics and Business - VNU were also participated to the seminar. At the seminar, University of Economics and Business - VNU had a information desk which introduced the university and its international cooperative training programs, cooperative strategies with the U.S. universities. The information of UEB attracts many delegates’ interest at the seminar.

This was the third annual seminar which aimed to accelerate the cooperation between two countries Vietnam - United Stated in tertiary education.

At the seminar, education specialists discussed about: What tertiary education mode is the best for Vietnam; Developing Vietnam’s universities in accordance with the U.S. mode; Strengthening the development of Vietnam’s universities and colleges; Increasing number of Vietnamese students studying in the U.S.; Cooperation between universities and enterprises; The roles of the U.S. and Vietnam enterprises; Cooperation in developing soft skills (leadership, group working and analyzing skill); Attracting scientists back to work at Vietnam’s universities...

Additionally, delegates from the U.S. and Vietnamese compatriots in U.S. paied notable interest in cooperating with University of Economics and Business in terms of training and scientific research.

UEB’s participation to major international seminars brings it many opportunities in promoting and popularizing its image; furthermore, opening new cooperative activities in the developing process of the university.
