VEPR Successfully Defended the Project of “Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2010”

In the afternoon of 21st July, 2010, the Science and Technology Council, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) held an acceptance meeting for the research project of “Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2010”, code 0906. Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, director of VPER is the director of the project.


The Acceptance Council includes of: Prof. Dr. Sc. Vu Minh Giang – president of the Council; Dr. Vo Tri Thanh and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Thuan – Reviewers; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Danh Ton, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Hong Son, Assoc. Prof. Ha Van Hoi, Assoc. Prof. Vu Duc Minh, Assoc. Prof. Pham Hong Tung, Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Quoc Viet – Members of the Council.

At the meeting, on behalf of the research group, Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh presented the summarized results of the research together with other products, including: two publications of “Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2010” (the Vietnamese and English versions), two national journal articles and one international journal article, two seminars and one conference… There have been positive feedbacks on the publications from institutions, policy makers, economists and readers that concern about the economic issues of Vietnam.

Members of the councils all highly appreciated the results achieved by Dr. Nguyen Duc Thanh and his team of the project. Prof. Dr. Sc. Vu Minh Giang put high value on the innitiative of making the Vietnam annual economic report and considered it as a pioneering step in creating annual reports of Vietnam on other economic-social issues like education and human rights. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Hong Tung stated that: "this is an outstanding research of VNU that applies modern methods in economic researching and gives out results of highly academic values and practical application".

In addition, the Council also noted that the project's group should clearly define the mission of the report; and wisely choose the researched topics so that each report could best describe the economic picture of Vietnam annually and they could also ensure the connection of the series of reports.

At the end of the meeting, the Council marked the results of the project as high distinction. In addition, the board of president of VNU committed to continue financially supporting for the making of the Vietnam annual economic reports in the following years.
