UEB's research group to study in Northern Europe

From 17th June to 23rd June 2018, the UEB’s research group on “Distribution of resources in the socialist-oriented market economy: Current situation, problems and solutions” (code KX.04.14/16-20) leaded by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi paid a visit to Denmark and Norway to study the development model and experiences in allocating resources for economic development in these countries.


Members of the research group included Dr. Nguyen Cam Nhung, Dr. Nguyen Vu Ha and MA. Nguyen Thi Thanh Mai from Faculty of International Business and Economics, VNU University of Economics and Business.

Within the framework of the program, the group had meeting and discussion with representatives from University of Southern Denmark - SDU, Innovation Fund Denmark, International School of Hellrup and Oslo Institute for Research on the Impact of Science - The University of Oslo.

 

The in-depth interview with representatives of these agencies provided lots of valuable proof on Denmark’s experiences in attracting and mobilizing the resources, especially the high quality human resources for economic development as well as Norway’s experiences in mobilizing resources for green development and effective allocation of petroleum resources.

 

Working with representatives of University of South Denmark

On 18th June 2018, at the University of South Denmark, the research group had a meeting with Prof. Niels Vestergaard - Dean of the Faculty of Sociology, Environmental Economics and Business, Ms. Judith Parus - Lecturer of the Faculty, Dr. Urs Steiner Brandt, Dr. Dewan Ahsan and Dr. Yingkui Yang from the research group on Management and Economics of Resources and the Environment - MERE. During the meeting, UEB’s research group collected valuable information on development model of Denmark as well as particular ways of SDU in recruiting and training the high quality human resources. In addition, the researchers also discussed the relation between economic growth and environment quality as well as the conditions to apply Denmark’s experiences in Vietnam.

 

Discussion with MERE research group

On the same day, the research group had a visit to the Esbjerg Harbor - the biggest harbor in the North Sea, also the Europe's leading port for shipping offshore wind turbines. This is one of the four largest ports in Denmark enjoying a central position in the region's infrastructure. The research group had chances to study the management mechanism and planning of the local and central authorities of the harbor.

On 21st June 2018, the research group worked with representatives of Oslo University, Norway. The discussion focused on mechanism and tools for allocating petroleum resources of Norway, fund management policy and allocation policy of petroleum resources for other activities etc. These experiences provided necessary lessons for economic growth of Vietnam.

The working trip brought about valuable information on Denmark and Norway experiences in allocating resources, including traditional resources such as natural resources, human resources and renovated resources such as technology and alternative energy. This will provide practical evidences for the research group to complete the project as well as give feasible and useful recommendations for policy makers in Vietnam.

Meanwhile, the meeting with University of South Denmark and Oslo University opened opportunities of cooperation in research and training with Vietnam National University, Hanoi in general and VNU University of Economics and Business in particular.
