UEB organized the seminar “Orientation for development of Students Jobs Support and Promotion Center

The beneficiaries of the Center are students
Nowadays, progressive universities in the world always pay attention to assist students to study and work effectively. It is also the criteria to rank quality and reputation of a university.


Many universities in Vietnam also have centers to support students but have not attached special importance to take advantages of the relationship with enterprises, alumni and other supporting activities in a modern model. Therefore, learning and doing research to establish a support center for students in a modern and different model which will exploit absolutely resources in order to serve maximum students’ needs at UEB is every essential.
On 30th September 2008, the seminar “Orientation for development of Students Jobs Support and Promotion Center” was organized at University of Economics and Business - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Attendees of the seminar are not only officials and students of UEB but aslo leaders of VNU including Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Viet Thanh - Head of Politics and Students Affairs Board, Dr. Dao Van Hai, Director of Boarding Student Center, entrepreneurs, and alumni who are confidential with UEB.

After Dr. Tran Anh Tai, Vice Rector of UEB briefly summarize the project on establishment of “Students Jobs Support and Promotion Center”, Prof. Phung Xuan Nha, Rector of UEB emphasized “The key subjects of a university are students and learners. They are products that the university has the responsibility to train. Therefore, legitimate needs, especially basic demands for study, activities, and employment are served professionally. With this approach, the contents that the seminar should be clarified are the functions of this center, organization structure model to well realize such functions, the relation between the Center and other departments and faculties of the university."

From the orientation of the Rector, delegates focused on the main content, discussed enthusiastically and contributed may ideas for the board of drafting the project to establish the center. The establishment of the Center will meet this proper demand. The biggest issue of the center perhaps is to determine the income source to cover expenses to organize activities and solve well the relationship between students, the university and the enterprises.

Dr. Dao Van Hai, Director of Student Boarding Center, VNU added “At present, supporting activities for students often occur not regularly, and base on movement. Therefore, it is really difficult to set the business objective for this area. The Center should be operated according to the non-profit mechanism.

At the seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Thi Viet Thanh - Head of Politics and Students Affairs Board, VNU commented: We should distinguish function and missions of students affairs division. The name of the Center should be concise and meaningfull. We may name the center as “Student Consultant and Support Center”

On behalf of the university, Rector Phung Xuan Nha expressed thanks to diversified and constructive comments of delegates and emphasized that the drafting board of project will take note these comments for reference in order to complete the project and conduct next steps to implement the project under the real context of the university
