Career orientation: Career paths in the Finance and Securities Industries

On 12 May 2015, the VNU University of Economics and Business in collaboration with VP Bank Securities (VPBS) held the program “Exchange on career orientation” in the field of Finance and Securities at the hall 801, E4 Building, the UEB.


The program aimed at providing final year students with valuable insight into the world of work and play a role in the students’ future career development. This is a good chance for the UEB’s students to obtain helpful information in the field of finance and securities, review things learned at the university as well as develop practical skills and qualifications needed for work.

Attending the program, there were speaker Barry David Weisblatt - Head of Research at VPBS together with leaders of offices and departments of VPBS, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector, Dr. Le Trung Thanh - Head of Office for Research and Partnership Development, Dr. Tran The Nu - Associate Dean of Faculty of Accounting and Auditing together with numbers of final year students.

Opening the program, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu thanked the VPBS for bringing such a meaningful event for UEB’s students, providing them with an understanding of today’s employment marketplace and preparation for their future careers. The Vice Rector also hoped to enhance further partnership with the VPBS in the fields of training and practical research.

The program introduced students to business of VPBS, the stock market of Vietnam as well as employment opportunities and approach to securities industry. Speaker Barry David Weisblatt said, the stock market of Vietnam has changed dramatically over the years in terms of scale, numbers of transactions, investor organizations and individuals etc. Vietnam is a dynamic market with huge potentials to develop.

Representatives of VPBS also provided students with information of internship programs of the company in the fields of: Analysis, transaction, services, accounting, risk management and broker etc. Various questions from students about conditions of application, employment opportunities after internship and exchange between offices during internship etc. were properly answered by leaders of the VPBS.


Ending the program, Dr. Le Trung Thanh expressed gratitude to leaders of VPBS for creating great opportunities for UEB’s students to first understand the world of work. He also hoped that the program can connect the students with their future careers and many more similar ones will be held in the near future.
