Expanding cooperation with Nepal and Thailand

On 26th November, 2014, leaders of the VNU University of Economics and Business had a working session with Prof. Gunanidhi Nyaupane, Rector of Tribhuvan University, Nepal and Mr Abdus Sabur, General Secretary of Asia Resources Fund, Thailand. To be present at the meeting, there were also Assoc.Prof.Dr. Do Duc Dinh, Chairman of Scientific Council, Centre for Economic and Social Studies and MSc. Do Duc Hiep, Head of Asia - Africa and the Middle East Division, International Cooperation Department, Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences.



Meeting and working with the partners included Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son, UEB Rector, Dr. Le Trung Thanh, Head of Office of Research and Development Cooperation, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Associate Dean of Faculty of Development Economics, Dr. Tran Quang Tuyen, Associate Dean of Faculty of Political Economics together with Dr. Pham Vu Thang, Director of Center for Economic Development Studies.  

Opening the working session, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son introduced UEB’s representatives and briefly summarized main activities as well as strengths and unique products of UEB.
Talking with the UEB, Prof. Gunanidhi Nyaupane emphasized the desire to cooperate and build long-term relationship with UEB, especially in sustainable development field. He also said that Tribhuvan University as well as the Asia Resources Fund looked forward to collaborating with UEB’s lecturers and experts and participating in the research group of ASEAN as well as sustainable economic development,... Additionally, coordinating in co-organizing international conferences was also an activity that Mr Abdus Sabur and Asia Resources Fund proposed. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son shared that UEB had an in-depth research team with experiences in both domestic and international projects, especially in Southeast Asia research network.
Further discussing each specific program with the partners, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet and Dr. Pham Vu Thang introduced more specific topics, projects and plans that the Faculty of Development Economics and Center for Economic Development Studies had been developing and implementing.

Particularly, the two sides also were interested in lecturer and student exchange activities. At the end of the meeting, representatives of the two sides agreed to nominate a person who was responsible for official communication and further discussed specific exchange activities in the future.
