In his speech, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - Rector of UEB gave the best wishes to lecturers, staff and students of the university. Looking at all that UEB did in the last school year in terms of training, scientific research, development cooperation, etc., Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha asserted: “The last school year marks a significant change: from the Faculty of Economics to the University of Economics and Business”. Lecturers, officers, staff, and students of the university together shared difficulties, made continuously efforts and tried hard in order to basically meet the objectives of the school year, especially including renovating training programs, establishing new majors, proceeding internationally standardized training programs, setting up cooperating programs at home and abroad, establishing and developing relationships with notable partners, improving and modernizing facilities….
The school year 2008-2009 will play an important part in the five-year period of realizing development strategy in order to confirm the position and prestige of the university in the society. In this school year, the university is going to focus in these missions as conducting linkage in training with College of Foreign Languages-VNU, continuing internationally standardized training programs, forming research groups, conducting trials of the suggested project to independently define income of officers and staff of the university, planning for development of officers….”
To students of the university, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha emphasized: “As students of UEB, you need to have a thorough understanding of your learning environment, strictly following regulations of the university as well as of VNU; on the other hand, you need to study hard, better your behaviour and be always creative in order to perfect yourself. You will always receive from the university the most support and the best condition for quality and facility so that you will study in an academic environment which is both humanitarian and practical….”
In recognizing considerable contributions of UEB in the last school year, Assoc.Prof.Dr Pham Trong Quat - Vice President of VNU promoted the efforts of the university, especially of leading groups and individuals awarded at every level. He asserted: “UEB is the youngest member of VNU but has many renovations in order to realizing the objectives of the university. In the last school year, UEB had many distinct achievements with many exemplary teachers devoted to their students and many diligent and dedicated students… I believe and hope that UEB will well complete the entire plan for the new school year 2008-2009 and make more contributions to the development of VNU.”
At the celebration, achieving groups and individuals of UEB in the school year 2007-2008 awarded Degree of Recognition and contending titles at VNU level, including Outstanding Collective for 4 collectives, VNU Outstanding Contending Sodiers for 5 individuals, Degree of VNU Director for 3 collectives and 12 individuals.
Board of Management of UEB awarded Letter of Recognition and gifts to 15 students including 5 students with good grades, 5 students being active leaders and with good grades, 5 students overcoming difficulties and studying well and award gifts also to 3 students with the highest results in the entrance exam to the university.
Mr. Nguyen Duc Huong - General Director, Vice Chairman of Board of Management of LienVietBank also took this occasion to offer the scholarship “Nursery of Lienviet outstandings” for 8 students of the university among which there were 6 newly entering students of the course QH-2008-E and 2 students of the course QH-2007-E.
The new school year 2008-2009 is the second year UEB plays the part as a college in VNU. Another school year goes with new expectations and determination of UEB teachers and students. It is hoped that all the officers, staff and students of UEB will together make more efforts in fulfilling the mission and objectives of the university, being the exemplary college in the field of economics and business administration living up to the trust of the society.
