Ideal learning environment
Manchester is often known as the cradle of famous universities. Therefore, to say that this place is an ideal learning environment is not wrong. Classes of the summer course in Manchester Metropolitan University are organized professionally. The lectures, uniquely designed with professional technology, have inspired and empowered students to participate in learning and exchanging knowledge. Especially, at this summer course, lectures about tourism and hotel management have enlightened students about the British economy.
Apart from interesting time in class, our students also had wonderful moments to communicate and get to know more international friends. Therefore, we could understand more about the culture, history, language and even political and religious point of views. The students shared: When taking part in this course in Manchester, not only did we get to learn advanced knowledge about business, but also broaden knowledge and real life experiences outside of textbooks.
Incorporating learning with experiencing
Students often joke that “Learning without playing is wasting youth”. That is correct. Talking about what is most impressive in Manchester, we remember the most about field trip days apart from stressful classes. Travels from downtown Manchester to other cities have created beautiful memories in their student year.
Despite the time passing, the memories of walking around the city and the sights of famous places like the library, and the church will forever remain in everyone’s hearts. It is so special that not only did the students get to admire the magnificent and monumental constructions but also have the chance to visit the factory and get to know the beer industry in Manchester.
Not only did it stop there, students also had the opportunity to come to big cities such as Liverpool to learn about the legendary band The Beatles and Stratford-upon-Avon – the birth place of the great poet Shakespeare. It can even be said that, one of the most amazing experiences of this summer course is the field trip to the Old Trafford football stadium – the home of Manchester United.
Places that can only be seen through computer or television screens can now be witnessed, felt and experienced through the real eyes. Nothing is more wonderful than that. It will be tedious if you are a student but only gain knowledge through boring textbooks. We, as the future of the country, should change our study habit, should know how to incorporate study methods and experience to accumulate much more real life knowledge.
At the end of the course, we truly hope we could spend more time in England to continue to learn about the Western culture and the people of England.
