Saga University was named after Saga city - one of the four pioneers of the Meiji Restoration reform 150 years ago which paved the way for the development of modern Japan. Saga City with a tradition of education and training has been home of many famous Japanese politicians. The University has also attracted a large number of Japanese and international students.
In this trip, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu was also invited to give speech at a seminar on "Border Economic Cooperation: An Important Clue of the GMS Economic Corridor". Attending the seminar, there were lecturers, graduate students and Doctoral students. The seminars focused deeply on GMS cooperation, GMS economic corridors, and the relationship of cooperation projects in the GMS with China's "Ring Road" initiative.
Then, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu had meetings with Saga University‘s Vice-Chancellor and Dean of Economics Faculty. At the meetings, representatives of Saga University and UEB agreed to continue cooperation in several fields such as lecturer and student exchange, research collaboration, seminars, conducting international research projects, especially, in the field of East Asian cooperation. Specifically, in December 2018, Saga University will co-ordinate with VNU – UEB and VNU- University of Foreign Languages to organize International Conference on "Integration in East Asia" and hold an annual conference. The annual conferences, and the cooperative activities between VNU- UEB and Saga University have been a solid foundation for the close and long-term cooperation between the two universities in the future.
