10-year anniversity ceremony of establishment of the UEB and appointment of the Rector and Vice Rector

On 15th November 2017, VNU University of Economics and Business solemnly held the ceremony to celebrate the 10th anniversary of establishment, toward 45th year of tradition and announcing the appointment of the Rector and Vice Rector of the University.
Attending the ceremony, there were Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang - Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Director of Ho Chi Minh National Political Academy, former students of the University; Mr. Ngo Dong Hai - Alternate member of Central Committee of the Party, Deputy Head of Central Economic Committee; Mr. Dang Quoc Khanh - Alternate member of Central Committee of the Party, Chairman of Ha Tinh People's Committee; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Vice President of VNU; representatives of VNU’s offices and departments; representatives of universities, enterprises and international organizations as partners of the UEB. From the UEB, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le - Rector, the Vice Rectors, heads of affiliated units and generations of staff, lecturers, learners and students.

In the opening speech, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le reviewed the milestones in 45 years of development of the UEB. Developing from the Department of Political Economy of the General University (1974-1995), the UEB has undergone many stages of development, each stage left its own mark on the tradition of the University. Over the past 10 years, the University has achieved crucial breakthroughs on its way to become the leading research university in Vietnam.

Rector of the University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le emphasized: "Over the past 10 years, UEB - VNU is proud of its achievements. The road ahead is wide open with lots of opportunities and challenges, challenges in competition, in facilities, in administration… So, we, the generations of UEB’s lecturers, researchers, staff and students should try our best to develop the spiritual and intellectual values and make breakthrough in development of the university in the coming time. I hope that the students and learners of the UEB could inherit the glorious traditions and strive for their future and the future of the University.”
After the opening speech of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hieu - Director of Organization and Personnel Department, VNU announced the Decisions of VNU’s President on appointing Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le as Rector and Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Manh Tuan as Vice Rector of the University.

On behalf of the VNU, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Kim Son praised the achievements of the UEB in the past 10 years. He hoped that the University will continue its development in the future. Over the past 10 years, VNU - UEB has been recognized as a prestigious training institution in economics, management and business. Training, research and consultation activities as well as provision of high quality human resources, including senior staff, have created a good reputation for the UEB. The University has also greatly contributed to the number of international publication of VNU.
At the ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Van Vui - Director of the Department of Emulation and Reward, Ministry of Education and Training, conferred the diploma of merit to the UEB and 5 UEB’s staff and lecturers for their contribution in developing the University.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son said: "Today, I am not the Rector of the University, fortunately, as the Vice President of VNU, I was assigned to be in charge of the UEB. I currently continue my research and teaching at the University and follow every step of the UEB with all my feelings and enthusiasm. The time I moved to VNU is not long but enough for me to realize that the UEB’s Board of Management and its staff are moving in the right direction, succeeded the success of the previous generations, particularly: successful enrollment, strong development of high-quality programs; increased number of State-level projects and international publications; expansion its network of domestic and international partners, attraction of good human resources...

At the ceremony, MSc. Phan Quoc Dong - Head of Bac Ha Customs Department representing the generations of students and learners of the University expressed his sincere feelings on the special day of the University.
Later, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le - Rector and Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector of the UEB awarded certificates to the sponsors: Vietnam Airlines, Vietnam Prosperity Bank (VPBank), Doji Jewelry Co., Ltd., Thanh Tay University, Binh Tay Import-Export Corporation (BITEX), 36 General Company, Ministry of Defense, Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), Military Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MB), Pvcombank, Tan A Dai Thanh Corporation, ICDL Vietnam JSC etc.

At the end of the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le expressed gratitude to the participants of the ceremony. The ceremony is also the opportunity for generations of UEB’s teachers and students to meet and talk about the old memories in the warm atmosphere of Vietnam Teachers Day 20th November.
