Expanding cooperation with Virginia Polytechnic Institute

On 6th December 2016, representatives of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) had a meeting with leaders of VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) to discuss cooperation opportunities between the two sides.


Attending the meeting, there were Dr. Donald R. Back - Director of International Cooperation and Ms. Patricia Parera - Deputy Director of the Language and Culture Institute, Virginia Tech. From the UEB, there were Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector, Dr. Dinh Thi Thanh Van - Vice Dean of the Faculty of Finance and Banking.

Opening the meeting, Dr. Donald R. Back introduced the Virginia Tech, mentioning its training programs and institutions throughout the United States. Virginia Tech, established in 1872, is one of largest public research institutes in Virginia. The university has more than 90 undergraduate programs, 150 graduate programs, more than 31,000 full-time students, including 3,500 international students. Virginia Tech are ranked by the prestigious organizations in the world such as Times Higher Education World University Rankings, QS World University Rankings, Center for World University Rankings.
On behalf of the UEB, Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu introduced to the partner about training, research and exchange activities undertaken by the UEB as well as the outstanding achievements the University há obtained in the field of international cooperation.
Representatives of Virginia Tech expressed interest on the joint training programs that being deployed by the UEB. At the meeting, the two sides also discussed on a number of possible cooperation activities, including development and promotion of faculty and student exchanges through training and research cooperation programs.
Ending the meeting, Virginia Tech and the UEB will continue to exchange information before applying the detailed action plan.
