Acceptance of the research project “Valuing the economic impacts of climate change to fisheries in the North of Vietnam”

On 9th October 2015, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment held a state-level acceptance of the project "research project “Valuing the economic impacts of climate change to fisheries in the North of Vietnam and recommendation of solutions for the mitigation of loss due to climate change” leaded by the VNU University of Economics and Business.



Presenting at the meeting were Dr. Nguyen Danh Son - Chairman of the Acceptance Council, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of the UEB, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - Head of the project together with members of the acceptance council and project participants.

The research project is implemented under the National Targeted Program on science and technology code KHCN-BDKH/11-15. The project aims at impact assessment of climate change to fisheries (catching and aquaculture); valuing the economic impacts of climate change to fisheries; impact assessment of climate change to the livelihoods of the residents in the coastal areas and proposal of adaptive solutions with climate change to fisheries. This project also built the database and the quantitative map of economic loss for fisheries in the North due to climate change; thereby, proposed solutions to minimize the damage caused by climate change.

From assessment of the acceptance council, the research was fully completed with good quality, meeting the requirements set forth. The acceptance council also confirmed the necessity and scientific significance of the research. The project was assessed good with average point of 79.85 /100.
