At the seminar, lecturers of Department of History of Economic Thought and Economic History gathered and introduced the outstanding contributions of Professor Deaton Angus for economic sciences. Prominent among these are the studies of Professor A.Deaton of consumption, poverty, and welfare. Is was the great contributions that helped Professor A.Deaton awarded the 2015 Nobel Prize for economics by Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. Different from the previous years, the  2015 economics Nobel Prize affected the majority of people, especially with the poor instead of impact on one industry or sector.  By building Almost Ideal Demand System and Deaton paradox, A.Deaton issued conclusions showing the differences compared to the previously popular theory of consumption. Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences has evaluated the contributions of A.Deaton as follows: “To design economic policy that promotes welfare and reduces poverty, we must first understand individual consumption choices. More than anyone else, Angus Deaton has enhanced this understanding. By linking detailed individual choices and aggregate outcomes, his research has helped transform the fields of microeconomics, macroeconomics, and development economics”. After the presentation of lecturers of Department of History of Economic Thought and Economic History, there was a lively discussion among the attendees around the seminar’s topic. Ending the seminar, A. Prof – Ph.D. Pham Van Dung has stated “This is a form of rewarded scientific activity, other departments should continue to implement this operation to reinforce and update new knowledge of economic sciences for Faculty’s lecturers”.
