Informational session on Fulbright Fellowship 2013

Representatives of Fulbright program at the information session
In the morning of 20th June 2012, the Fulbright Fellowship Program in Vietnam and VNU University of Economics and Business have co-organized an Information session to introduce the Fulbright Fellowship 2013 to the candidates who are lecturers and students of the UEB.


Speaking at the meeting was Dr. Sarah Mackenzie (the University of Maine - US), Fulbright scholar of Education Management. Ms. Do Thu Huong - Vietnam’s Fulbright Program Assistant has participated in the meeting together with UEB Vice Rector - Dr. Vu Anh Dung and UEB faculty members interested in the program.
Openning the information session, Ms. Do Thu Huong has provided an overview of the fellowship, application process, approval procedure of candidates’ document as well as how to have a competitive record.  Accordingly, the selected scholars will be covered monthly living allowance, health insurance for the program duration and in round-trip ticket to and from the US.

 

Ms. Do Thu Huong - Fulbright Program Assistant in Vietnam

The Fulbright Fellowship Program in Vietnam has began receiving candidates’ application for Vietnamese Scholar Program 2013. This is one of four traditional programs of the Fulbright Program in Vietnam, which sponsores Vietnam scholars to visit to teach and research at institutes or universities in the US during a period of 3 to 9 months.
After approving candidates’ application, the Fulbright Program in Vietnam will cooperate with the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) to arrange and send the candidates to appropriate institutes in the US.
 
Candidates interested in applying for the VSP must have a master’s or doctoral degree (or equivalent in some majors); are Vietnamese citizens and have a proficient level of English for study or teaching in America. Ms. Huong also emphasized the closing date of application is on 15th October 2012. Therefore, candidates should prepare their document as soon as possible.

Afterward, Dr. Sarah Mackenzie has shared with UEB faculty members about how to have an impressive resume and research proposal. It is is considered as a crucial part of a candidate’s application, which draws the attention of the judges most.
The UEB faculty members were interested in the presentation and have raised many questions for Fulbright program representatives about research content, funding, how to download and catch up online application...
The information session ended, leaving useful information for candidates interested in the Fulbright scholar exchange program. Representing the program, Ms. Do Thu Huong expresses her hope that after the meeting, there would be more excellent faculty members of the UEB become candidates for the Fulbright Fellowship in the next academic year.
