Opening Global Partnership of Asean Colleges 2019

On August 28th, the Global Partnership of Asian Colleges (GPAC) was officially opened at Nguyen Van Dao Hall of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. With the theme “Digital Economies in Asia”, this event attracted participation of 130 scholars and students from colleges in Asia.


After two time successfully hosting this event in 2010 and 2014, it is the honor of VNU University of Economics and Business to become the host country this year.

GPAC 2019 was attended by nearly 130 scholars and students from Chiba University of Commerce (Japan), Meio University (Japan), Tokyo Metropolitan University (Japan), Seoul National University (South Korea), Chengchi National University (Taiwan), The College of Management Academic Studies (Israel) and VNU University of Economics and Business (Vietnam).

 
Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Bao Son 

Opening the ceremony, Vice President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Bao Son gave the welcome speech. He warmly welcomed participants from 7 universities to attend the event. In his speech, Vice President of VNU, Hanoi emphasized that, “Focusing on these emerging issues, GPAC 2019 will be a forum for professors, students from 7 universities to share, exchange, discuss issues related to current situation of digital Economies in Asia and propose recommendations to economic strategies and policies. With the purpose of bringing students from different countries together for academic and cultural exchange, GPAC 2019 will provide participants with valuable opportunities to interact with students from different parts of Asia through not only academic activities, but also cultural and social activities.”

Next, on behalf of VNU University of Economics and Business - Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu delivered the speech to all participants of GPAC 2019. Particularly, she expressed her gratitude to Professor Haruo Shimada and Professor Sang Kee Min - founders of Global Partnership of Asian Colleges. She regarded nowadays students as the future leaders of the economies and hoping that all participants of GPAC 2019 will have great time in Vietnam.

As founder of GPAC, Prof. Haruo Shimada and Prof. Sang Kee Min shared their story of founding the partnership over 20 years ago.

After the opening ceremony, the students were divided into small groups to discuss and study together. With the theme "Digital Economies in Asia", the topics of research and discussion in this event mainly focus on issues related to the digital economy in the region. Branch topics include International finance, accounting and banking; Policy and development; International Business and Management; International Integration & Multidisciplinary and other topics related.
