2021 is a year with many challenges for the country in general and the VNU University of Economics and Business in particular. However, overcoming the immediate challenges with perseverance and enthusiasm, the University still achieved outstanding achievements. Let's review the Top 21 achievements and events in 2021 of the University.

1. Main contributor to VNU's QS World Ranking of 501-550 2021 in the field of Business and Management Studies

The University of Economics has been recognized by VNU as a key, pioneer, leading contributor to the world ranking 501-550 in the field of Business and Management Research of the QS Reputation Rankings. Accordingly, VNU is the first and only institution in Vietnam to be ranked in this field.

 

2. Honored to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister

In 2021, VNU University of Economics and Business was honored to receive the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit for Outstanding Achievements in Business Administration, Management Research and Development of Science and Technology, and International Cooperation.

 

In the academic year 2019-2020 and 2020-2021, the VNU University of Economics and Business was ranked No.1 among VNU’s members. The recognized achievements of the University confirmed the its sustainable development strategy, gradually realizing the goal of being ranking among the top universities in Asia.

 

4. The Rector of the VNU University of Economics and Business was awarded the title of National Emulation Soldier by the Prime Minister

In 2021, Mr. Nguyen Truc Le - Secretary of the Party Committee, Rector of the University was awarded the title of National Emulation Soldier for his outstanding achievements in the patriotic emulation movement, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland according to Decision No. 1360/QD-TTg dated July 27, 2021 of the Prime Minister.

 

5. The first member of VNU to establish the University Council for the term 2021-2026

In 2021, the University of Economics and Business is the first unit of VNU that has established a University Council for the term 2021-2026 with 15 members in order to build the organizational structure and apparatus, towards university autonomy and sustainable development.

 

6. The first member with economic and technical norms approved by Vietnam National University, Hanoi

VNU-UEB is the first unit of VNU to be approved the economic and technical norms applicable to all university training programs from the academic year 2022-2023 to the academic year 2025-2026. This system heads towards university autonomy and realizing the university’s internationalization strategy.

 

7. Successfully organizing many international conference and seminars

In 2021, the University successfully organized various international and national conferences and seminars, contributing to the reputation of VNU's scientific research in general and the UEB in particular, such as Vietnam - UK Economic and Trade Forum 2021, the international conference "International trade and investment towards digital and green transformation" (CIECI 2021) was organized by the VNU-UEB in collaboration with the University of Adelaide, Australia, the University of National Chengchi University, Taiwan and FNF Vietnam.

 

 

The launching conference of the Vietnam's Economic Annual Report 2021: Organized during the special context amid the complex impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The report analyzed Vietnam's economy in the context of fluctuations in the world economy, repositioning Vietnam in the global economy.

 

8. Launching the Business Administration program for Sports Talents – taking the national responsibility

The business management undergraduate program for sports talents is a program that aims to fulfill national responsibilities and prepare professional athletes for their future career development. In 2021, the Program has enrolled many professional athletes, including prominent Vietnamese top athletes such as Quang Hai, Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thanh Duy and Nguyen Thi Mai Anh...

 

9. Operation of the Fund "Accompanying to create the future" with a total value of VND 50 billion

The VNU-UEB and the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) have cooperated to build the Fund "Accompanying to create the future" - especially for students of the VNU-UEB and their families. The fund offers VNU-UEB’s students financial support to continue their learning amid the COVID-19 epidemic, reducing the difficulties for many families.

 

10. Launching the new brand identity kit

The new brand identity of the University has contributed to positioning, spreading and developing the UEB brand domestically and internationally. In particular, the first special product launched is the uniform for staff, lecturers and employees showing a professional and world-class image in hamorny with the internationalization goal of the University.

 

11. Establishing Economic and Business Journal under the University of Economics and Business

VNU University of Economics and Business has established the Journal of Economics and Business (formerly the Journal of Economics and Business under the VNU Science Journal) according to Decision No. 233/GP-BTTTT. The journal is the bridge connecting the UEB’s activities in training, scientific research and technology transfer and the society; a forum to exchange, publish and introduce the results of scientific research in the fields of economics and business; towards being indexed in the ACI citation system, and other reputable databases such as ISI/Scopus, Web of Science.

 

12. The training program is highly internationalized

VNU University of Economics and Business has developed many international joint training programs together with expanding student exchange programs, especially with highly ranked universities in the US, Australia and Europe. This strategy aims to internationalize education, offers high-quality training to Vietnamese students.

 

13. Pioneering in training model, optimize the strengths of One VNU community to develop interdisciplinary and inter-unit training programs.

The domestic student exchange program with leading universities in Vietnam such as University of Danang; Hue University; University of Economics and Law - Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City; Economic University at Ho Chi Minh City. This is an opportunity for UEB’s students to experience a diverse and multicultural learning environment; improve their soft skills as well as the ability to integrate and adapt to changes in the environment and society after graduation.

 

14. UEB continues to affirm its top position in the economics field

The VNU-UEB has affirmed its top position among economic universities in Vietnam with the admission score among the top of the economic universities. Also, the University also attracted high quality students and lecturers nationwide.

 

15. Launching the creative space for students, lecturers and scientists

The university has launched its Creative and Art Space on the 5th floor of the Building E4. This is the area - specially designed to connecting students, lecturers and scientists of the university. Here, all UEBers have space to enjoy art, music and painting, a place to introduce publications and academic exchanges.

 

16. Develop models of knowledge transfer, startup ecosystem with scientists, laboratories...

Business Challenges season 5 has built an innovative startup ecosystem, connecting the training activities of the University and the corporations, businesses and organizations; meanwhile, giving chances for young start-up nationwide. The projects from the contest have been invested by representatives from businesses and investors. In particular, the winning project of the UEB’s students (Saleswork e-commerce platform sales management) was invited to take part in the Shark Tank Vietnam and also won the 1st place at the VNU Innovation and Startup Contest 2021.

 

17. Strengthening the application of Information Technology to develop "Digital University"

In 2021, the VNU-UEB aims to develop and apply technology in training and administration. The university has applied the software in tuition fee collection, assessment survey management, score entry, online exam, student management, human resource management, E-learning. Especially, the VNU University of Economics and Business is the first member in VNU to apply the online exam software with face recognition feature, ensuring fairness and transparency.

 

18. Upgrade facilities: Smart classrooms, libraries and dormitories

In 2021, the VNU-UEB cooperated with strategic partners to invest in facilities. The dormitories, libraries and classrooms have been repaired and upgraded with modern equipment, offering convenient accommodation for UEB’s students.

 

19. Expanding the forum for international cultural and knowledge exchange in the field of Economics and Business

The VNU-UEB attracted international students from all over the world to take part in short courses and virtual courses, amid the context of global COVID-19. In which, international seminars, international scholar exchange programs, and virtual short courses attracted hundreds of students and lecturers from Australia, Japan, Korea, Denmark, France.

 

20. UEB to attract high quality human resources

The UEB has attracted high qualified human resources, developing the quality assurance team. The training size has increased remarkably over the years. Accordingly, the number of faculty members of the university also increased in 2021, approximately 125% compared to the last year. Most of the UEB’s lecturers graduated from leading universities in advanced countries such as the UK, USA, France, Australia, Japan. Many young lecturers have articles published in the world's leading prestigious international journals.

 

21. UEB expanded activities to connect students, staff, lecturers and alumni

In 2021, the University continuously promote activities to engage faculty and staff. Many contests and competitions were held to connect all UEBers such as UEB Marathon - The road to success. The race connecting the student community, alumni, partners, staff and lecturers celebrating the 15 years anniversary of establishment of the UEB.
