On November 14th, 2020, the organizing committee of Business Challenges Season 5 organized the Orientation Day to provide participants with further information at the conference hall (Room 801) of VNU University of Economics and Business. The competition is hosted by VNU University of Economics and Business in collaboration with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF).
Attending Orientation Day, from the UEB, there were Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Truc Le - Rector, Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector; on behalf of Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), Mr. Andreas Stoffers - National Director of FNF attended the event. Besides, the Orientation Day was attended by Mr. Pham Thanh Hung - Vice Chairman of Cen Group as a strategy consultant, Mr. Tran Van Le - Director of Phuong Linh Trading and Electrical engineering production company, Mr. Bui Tung Lam - Director of Solari Supplies Corporation, together with 20 mentors and 200 participants.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Rector of VNU University of Economics and Business - Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Truc Le expressed his appreciation at the competition. “I am glad to see such a crowded room filled with joyful faces, expectation and hopefulness to confront business challenges…”, said Assoc.Prof.PhD. Truc Le.
Compared to other competitions, Business Challenges have distinguished features that directly connect universities with enterprises and get used to real-life business activities. This competition gives a chance for UEB students not only to learn but also to connect with students from other schools.
Also on the Orientation Day, the Organizing Committee introduced a three-member strategy consultant team consisting of Mr. Pham Thanh Hung - Vice Chairman of Cen Group, Mr. Tran Van Le, Director of Director of Phuong Linh Trading and Electrical engineering production company, and Mr. Bui Tung Lam, former CEO of Solari Supplies Corporation and 20 mentors, most of whom were successful entrepreneurs.
In the next part of the program, Mr. Pham Thanh Hung, Vice Chairman of Cen Group, shared with students three things to start a successful business: products that meet social demands, governance systems and brands. Mr. Hung suggested that students should experience failure many times in their lives to continuously learn from them, but never to made the same mistake twice.
Mr. Tran Van Le - Director of Director of Phuong Linh Trading and Electrical engineering production company, shared his thoughts about learning and reading. According to Mr. Le, his success today came not only from external conditions but from self-learning, reading whenever possible, even when exercising; learning anything beyond knowing.
At the event, the Organizing Committee also invited the magician J to come and perform some magic tricks. According to the magician J, there is no magic performance being the same as the others as each of them has its own style. The same goes to the successful people. Despite following different paths, they are all aware of having to make efforts to gain success.
