Is income the most important factor in recruitment?

In recruitment, there are a lot of factors coming into play, in which income is an indispensable but not the most important one. This was mutually agreed among the students at the Career Orientation Talkshow organized by VNU University of Economics and Business in collaboration with Southeast Asia Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SeABank) on 5th January 2019.


Attending the Talkshow, from SeABank, there were Mr. Tran Trung Kien - Head of Corporate Banking Division; Ms. Pham Thi Ngoc - Recruitment Director; together with leaders of departments. From the UEB, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Vice Rector, deans of faculties and offices and nearly 300 students of the UEB.

Speaking at the talkshow, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu said that this was a valuable opportunity for UEB’s students to work with the employers. Students should seize this opportunity to express themselves in front of the employers, especially students who were about to graduate and wanted to work in finance and banking. The Talkshow also proved that UEB has been the leading university in the country in training high quality human resources, not only SeABank but also many other organization often have come to UEB to recruit when students have been about to graduate.

Then, Mr. Tran Trung Kien gave a general introduction about SeABank and a summary of the recruitment process in SeABank. Mr. Kien shared that when he graduated, he applied for a position of international payment which was his main major, however, he did not get the job. After that, he was employed for the position of Customer specialist and since then he has developed his career until now. His experience proved that, It is not necessary to study the right major to work well, the opportunity to work in SeABank always open with all UEB’s training major.

Many students gave many questions to SeABank leaders whether students could apply for a position of Legal Inspectorate or good looking appearance is important when working at bank or not ? On the contrary, Mr. Kien also asked students: What attracted students to apply for vacancies? The answers, in return, were the working environment, the consistent position with the capacity, the attachment to work, and ultimately the good income and welfare.

According to information disclosed by SeABank Recruitment Manager at Talkshow, SeABank's talent searching program last year had found a student from UEB when he was a final year student. The starting salary he received at SeABank was VND 18 million, which proved that there have been many talented students in UEB now.

 
Direct interview at the UEB

The first step to finding talent is the IQ assessment, which consists of 30 questions finished in 30 minutes. Based on IQ assessment results, SeABank held a direct interview with internship positions in the afternoon at Hall 801.

SeABank's internship position has attracted many students because of salary payment ranges from 1.5 million to 10 million VND. Moreover, the most important thing is the qualified students might be admitted to work at SeABank immediately after graduate. More than 100 students attended the interview showed great attraction from the positions in SeABank. This event also has helped SeABank has founs talents for long-term development.

It is expected that this event will be an annual event organized by UEB in collaboration with SeABank. all UEB’s students can easily find jobs which are suitable with their capacity with high salaries.
