UEB's in its constant effort to improve teaching quality

After the success of the first phase, the second seminar on "Sharing experience to improve teaching skills and methods" was held at VNU University of Economics and Business in two day, 30th and 31st July 2018.


The seminar aims at improving lecturers’ ability and lies within the university’s orientation of education internationalization. The first phase of the program took place on 9th and 10th July involved 30 lecturers. This time, the seminar was attended by 34 lecturers.

The program was designed based on the "Handbook for Economics Lecturers" written by British experts. UEB’s lecturers who presented at the program had studied the book, combining with their own experiences to share with other lecturers.

Key mission of the University: Internationalization of education

Beginning the meeting, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le - Rector of the UEB emphasized the key mission of the University in the coming time: education internationalization. Most of UEB’s lecturers have gained learning or teaching experiences from countries around the world, it’s time for them to share and learn from each other’s. The UEB’s first priority is to enhance qualifications of lecturers, who are responsible for training highly motivated and dynamic students being able to work as global citizens.

In the main part of the seminars, lecturers of the UEB shared their knowledge and teaching experiences. As a well-known lecturer, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoi - Associate Dean of Faculty of International Business and Economics talked about the topic: How to develop lectures and workshops, how to test and evaluate learning outcomes and how to build a virtual learning environment.

After that, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu - Dean of Faculty of Finance and Banking and Dr. Ho Chi Dung - Head of Marketing Department, School of Business Administration shared the talks about "teaching with game simulation and role play" and "Building and deploying case study". The lecturers said that game simulation and case studies will make the lectures more attractive and helping students learn while playing.

In the next part of the seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh - Associate Dean of School of Business Administration, author of the well-known book "Lean Management in Vietnam - The Road to Success" brought the talks on "Mind of the lecturers" and "Problem-based learning methods", which were received enthusiastically by the attendants.

After the seminar Dr. Nguyen The Kien - Lecturer from Faculty of Development Economics said: "Through the seminars, I have learned a lot from my colleagues. Moreover, I understand more about the culture, the UEB’s requirements in the new context. We are really excited to share our lectures to the students in the new school year.”
