Prof.Dr. Suan Schwab, former US Trade Representative to be the UEB’s Advisor

This wonderful news came to the UEB and VNU in the last month of the year 2009. Prof.Dr. Susan Schwab who was former US Trade Representative and former President and Executive Director of University of Maryland (US) accepted the invitation to become our advisor.


For UEB, she was to give advice on international-standard curriculum design and textbook compilation of public policy, public administration, and preparation of Vietnam Annual Economic Report.

In her visit to Vietnam this time, Prof.Dr. Susan Schwab held meetings in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City from 30th November to 1st December 2009. She gave presentations on how Vietnamese economic corporations and exporters can expand business in the U.S market and other key markets, and what should be done to limit lawsuits and commercial barriers for Vietnamese products exported to U.S. Her presentations helped Vietnam to understand the U.S’s strategic position in investment and bilateral trade with Vietnam, and Vietnamese business community to capture valuable opportunities and knowledge to access US as a large and powerful market and be more active in promoting their commercial brands.

According to UEB’s proposal and in order to aknowledge her precious contributions for the cooperation and friendship with Vietnam and VNU, Prof.Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan has awared Prof.Dr Susan Schawb an Honorary Doctor Degree. The ceremony was solemnly held at 19 Le Thanh Tong - Ha Noi, the historical lecture hall of Vietnam’s reputation of higher education: Indochina University - Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Prof.Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan, VNU President, confirmed the visit of Prof.Dr. Susan Schawb to VNU is a great honor showing the efforts of the UEB in particular and VNU in general in strivng to become a destination for scholars worldwide.

Prof.Dr. Susan Schwab said she is deeply moved and confirmed the degree is a tremendous honor for her. Prof.Dr. Susan Schwab she would do her best to assist UEB and VNU to complete their missions.
