The 4th international conference on Vietnamese studies

On 26 November 2012, the 4th international conference on Vietnamese studies was opened at My Dinh National Convention Center. The 4th conference which is under the theme “Vietnam on the road to integration and sustainable development”, co-oganized by Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and Vietnam National University, Hanoi.


Attending to ceremony was Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dzung, President of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Thao, Chairman of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi Prof.Dr. Mai Trong Nhuan and over 1,200 delegates from 36 countries around the world.
At the conference, PM Nguyen Tan Dung has said: “The accelerating international integration in science and technology is an important part in the strategy of international integration of Vietnam. The international conference on Vietnamese studies is significant activity to promote Vietnam’s international integration in terms of science and technology. This is also an opportunity for scientists and Vietnam’s Government to share research results, experience of development and new knowledge about a dynamic Vietnam, contribute to publicize Vietnam’s image to the world.”The Prime Minister also hoped that the international scientists would continue to accompany the country’s scientists in developing the field of Vietnamese studies, especially establishing more Vietnamese research institutes around the world, contributing to the development of Vietnam as well as strengthen the cooperation between among countries.
Taking part on three days (26th to 28th November 2012) with15 panels, the conference is where local and international scientists come to share their research findings or precious documents about Vietnam in various fields such as culture, history, economics, politics, social, legal, technology, education and training, environment and international relations. The participants were discussing on three main topics including: (1) sustainable development; (2) international integration and promoting sustainable development; and (3) comprehensice international integration of Vietnamese studies.
The VNU University of Economics and Business participated in the conference as the chairmanship of socio-economic panel (Panel 3): “Vietnam’s economy in international integration and sustainable development”. The theme has been drawing the attention of many scientists and researchers in the country and worldwide. The University of Economics and Business has had 22 out of 71 research reports at the panel 3. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - UEB Rector chaired the panel.
