Prof. Lyn Beazley lectures at UEB
In the schedule of Australian Education Week, on 10th November 2011, VNU University of Economics and Business has the honor to receive Prof. Lyn Beazley - The leading scientific consultant from Western Australia to deliver a lecture on Technology Innovations for a Changing World.
Associating at UEB with Prof. Lyn Beazley there have been Mr. David Skowronski, Second Secretary of Embassy of Australia, Mr. Mike Ryan, Executive Director of Perth Education City - Western Australia’s peak industry body for international education. Representing VNU UEB, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Viet, Director of Research and Partnership Development Office has welcomed the delegation. The lecture by Prof. Lyn Beazley on Technology Innovations for a Changing World has attracted many students, faculties, researchers from VNU University of Economics & Business and VNU University of Engineering & Technology.

Professor Lyn Beazley is Chief Scientist of Western Australia and was awarded Officer of the Order of Australia in January 2009. Prof. Beazley is a member of the new Technology and Industry Advisory Council (TIAC) to the Western Australian Government. In March 2011, she was inducted into the inaugural Western Australian Women’s Hall of Fame. Prof. Lyn Beazley has served on numerous bodies advising State and Federal Governments, including advisory boards to the Australian Research Council, the Australian Synchrotron and Western Australia’s Low Emissions Energy Development (LEED) Fund. She is a member of several boards such as The Institute for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) and the Botanic Gardens and Parks Authority (BGPA).

In her lecturer, Prof. Lyn Beazley was referring to the factors affecting the world’s development such as the increase in global temperatures, sea level, the rate of emissions as well as the global population. Comparing the similarities between Vietnam and Australia, Prof. Lyn Beazley lectured on the impact of scientific researches in the fields of health, agriculture, climate change and renewable energy has been used in Australia as well as in Vietnam, particularly cooperative projects between the two countries to enhance community life quality in Vietnam.
Through her lecture and enthusiastic sharing, Prof. Lyn Beazley expected to send the message: scientific research has to link to life, directly changing the life quality. Above all, it impacts on the policy for a comprehensive change. Answering audiences’ questions, she said that scientific research, especially technological and technical research is not something superior neither expensive, it is towards the specific results that change the life for people to enjoy. She emphasized that scientific research should “leave the ivory tower” to serve the actual life, especially researches at universities of economics, business and technology.
The workshop has inspired the students, faculty members and researchers the passion for study, as well as provided different viewpoints on scientific research, which has the power to change of life.
