Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2023 by the VNU-UEB

“Linkage and business development towards an autonomous economy” is the theme of 2023, which has been discussed by economic experts, scientists, domestic and foreign policy makers, and international organizations. Economic, enterprises, theoretical and research agencies... discussed at the Launching Conference of Vietnam Annual Economic Report 2023 organized by the Vietnam institute for Economic and Policy Research (VEPR), the University of School of Economics and Business (UEB) and the Friedrich Naumann Foundation Institute (FNF) Vietnam co-organized on the morning of June 22, 2023.


The conference has the attendance of many representatives of government agencies, policy-making agencies, national and international theoretical and research institutions, leaders of universities and research institutes, representatives of many embassies, and international development organizations in Vietnam such as: Ms. Svenja Hahn - Member of the European Parliament; Ms. Beata Osińska – Provisional Representative of the Republic of Poland in Vietnam; Mr. Marco Abbiati - Scientific Counselor of the Italian Embassy in Vietnam; Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Hong Son – Deputy Head, Central Economic Commission; Ms. Pham Chi Lan - Senior economist; Dr. Nguyen Dinh Cung – Senior economist; Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh - Deputy Director of the Department of International Economics and Integration - Central Propaganda Department; Dr. Nguyen Quang Vinh – Chairman of the Vietnam Business Council for Sustainable Development (VBCSD)…

 
Overview of the conference 

On the UEB side, there were participations of Assoc. Prof. Dr Pham Bao Son – Vice Director of VNU; Assoc. Prof. Dr Le Trung Thanh – Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr Nguyen Anh Thu – Vice Rector; Dr Nguyen Quoc Viet – Vice Director of VERP, along with other lecturers and scientists of UEB.

On the side of Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF), there was the attendance of Prof. Dr Andreas Stoffers, FNF Nation Director in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Annual Economics Report is a product of the VEPR of the UEB - VNU, has been continuously published over the past 15 years, can be considered as a product. Typical research products that honestly reflect the picture of the economy and society of UEB's team of experts as well as the University's network of prestigious domestic and international researchers and scientists.

Yearbook of Vietnam's Economic Annual Report 2022

 
 

The organizer awarded the yearbook to delegates and experts

At the Conference, the representatives of the authors of Yearbook of Vietnam’s Annual Economic Report 2023 include: Dr Nguyen Quoc Viet, Vice President of VEPR; Dr Nguyen Tu Anh, Director of General Department, Central Economic Commission; Dr Nguyen Dinh Hoan, Enterprise Development Institute, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI); Dr Tran Thi Mai Thanh, Faculty of Economics and International Business, University of Economics - VNU presented the results of the report, focusing on the following main topics:

(1) Overview of the world economy in 2022 and almost the first half of 2023, several significant economies with strong links to Vietnam, the world economic prognosis in 2023 and prospects, and Vietnam's problem.

(2) High anchoring interest rate and Vietnamese enterprise competitiveness in 2022 and early 2023 anticipated Vietnam's economic prospects in 2023.

(3) Post-Covid-19 economic recovery results

In 2023, Vietnam's economic growth is expected to reach 6–6.5%.

Many opinions, and speeches of economic experts, domestic and foreign scholars, managers, and policy makers were exchanged, asked and answered at the Conference.

The conference concluded with a number of key policy recommendations to enhance the competitiveness of businesses and strengthen business ties in the new environment.

The Vietnam Annual Economic Report, after a 15-year journey, has become part of the elite wisdom of the experts at the University of Economics and Business - VNU, contributing to the affirmation that UEB is a strategically oriented environment with a leading position among higher education institutions in the country and region.
