The forum was held by Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union under the theme of “Tapping the power of young Vietnamese intellectuals in the 4.0 era”. The event encourages young intellectuals involved in national construction and development to promote Vietnam’s economic integration into the region and the world. It focuses on promoting STEM to build a high-quality workforce in the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, adopting Industry 4.0 technology in environmental protection and climate change response, and promoting innovation in manufacturing and business. The forum was attended by more than 200 Vietnamese young intellectuals residing in 21 countries and working in 52 different areas.

 

At the forum, young Vietnamese intellectuals shared their experiences and discussed three major issues: (i) Enhancing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) for high-quality human resources in the fourth industrial revolution, (ii) Application of the fourth industrial revolution in the environmental protection and responding to climate change and (iii) accelerating renovation in business and production.

 

The delegation of the UEB took part in the session three on "Promoting innovation in production and business", in which Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le acted as an advisor. After listening to the presentations of the young intellectuals on the role of innovation in business production, ways to innovate in production and business as well as supporting policies in production and business, he made comments and suggestions for understanding and developing ideas of the authors in the context of Vietnam. In particular, he emphasized the important role of the young Vietnamese intellectuals in the development of the country.

 

At the closing session of the forum, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le presented the discussion on "Development of science and technology and creative start-up: From university perspectives". The discussion focused on five main contents: (i) Innovative and creative ecosystem; (ii) international and Vietnamese context; (iii) University startup in Vietnam and challenges; (iv) VNU University of Economics and Business and start-up support; (v) Orientation for developing start-up and creativity in Vietnam. Especially, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Truc Le highlighted the internationalization of activities at the UEB and, the Business Challenge 2018, the Thriive Start-up Fund and efforts of the UEB in supporting young researchers and lecturers.
