Seminar on Environmental policies and green consumption

On 27th July 2018, VNU University of Economics and Business held the seminar on “Environmental policies and green consumption” with presentations of Mr. Dieter Koemle - Doctoral student and Dr. Birgit Gassler from University of Göttingen, Germany.


Attending the seminar, there were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu - Rector of the UEB and lecturers from Faculty of International Business and Economics and School of Business Administration.

Opening the seminar, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Anh Thu said, the UEB warmly welcomed Mr. Dieter Koemle and Ms Birgit Gassler to work with the University. This is part of the cooperative program between VNU-UEB and University of Göttingen. The seminar is a chance for the researchers to present their published research to lecturers of the UEB and sharing experiences in teaching and learning.

 

At the seminar, Mr. Dieter Koemle and Dr. Birgit Gassler in turn presented their research on “The impact of Natura 2000 designation on agricultural land rental prices in Germany” and “Is it all in the MIX? Consumer preferences for segregated and mass balance certified sustainable palm oil”. Study of Mr. Dieter Koemle outcomes suggested significant negative impact of site designation on land rents and that current funding levels may not be appropriate for prices to adjust to average levels etc. After that, Dr. Birgit Gassler presented her study on consumption of palm oil. The study focus on consumption toward certified sustainable palm oil and tendency of producing sustainable palm oil etc.

The presentations received various comments from UEB’s lecturers and experts. Thus, the outcomes of research can be used as teaching materials at the UEB.

 
 

Mr. Dieter Koemle - Doctoral student and Dr. Birgit Gassler - Postdoctoral researcher from Germany work at the UEB as a part of the project funded by K.I.T.F.E.M (Knowledge and Innovation in, to and from Emerging Markets), which supports and promotes scholar exchange between the VNU - UEB and University of Goettingen.
