The Asia Pacific Conference on Information Management 2016

On three days, from 20 to 22nd October 2016, VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) in collaboration with Japan Society for Management and Information (JSIM) held the Asia Pacific Conference on Information Management (APCIM) 2016.



The Asia Pacific Conference on Information Management 2016 provides an international forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange innovative ideas on various topics of information management and related areas. This year, the main theme of the conference is “Common Platform to a Sustainable Society in the Dynamic Asia Pacific.” The focus of this theme is how to develop and sustain an affluent society, both materially and spiritually, using IT-based solutions in the global and multi-cultural environment. Another aim of the conference is to overcome the superficial understanding of technologies, and to seek out a way to create a new knowledge system based on a deep understanding of fundamental business principles.

Attending the conference, there were Mr. Kiyoshi Murata - President of the Japan Society for Management and Information; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of the UEB, Co-chair of the conference. The conference also attracted many scholars, researchers end leading experts from the Japan Society for Management and Information, Korean Society for Management and Information, representatives of educational and research institutions, technology companies from Japan, America, Korea, China and Vietnam.

The conference was divided into two plenary panel sessions and many parallel sessions, discussing 48 papers submitted by scholars all over the world, including lecturers of the UEB.

On the third day of the conference, Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh - Vice Dean of the Institute of Business Administration chaired the workshop on “Technology Management in Vietnamese Enterprises”. The discussion gave an overview on technology management practices in Vietnamese enterprises and proposed an idea of “technology of things” and a management model suitable with Vietnamese enterprises.

In addition, various discussions of lecturers of the UEB were presented at the conference, namely: “Application of “made in Vietnam” lean management for Vietnamese private universities” (Nguyen Dang Toan, Cao Thi Hoang Tram, Pham Minh Tuan, Nguyen Dang Minh); “Made in Vietnam lean management for Vietnamese enterprises” (Nguyen Dang Minh); The role of entrepreneurship development in universities to promote knowledge sharing the case of Vietnam national university Hanoi (Dinh Van Toan, Hoang Van Hai), Application of information technologies to manage supply chain - The practices and solutions for Vietnamese SMEs (Nguyen Dang Minh, Nguyen Thi Van Ha) etc.

At the parallel sessions, scholars all over the world presented discussions of various areas of interest, including: Case Studies on Data and Information Management, Monitoring and Analysis, Cloud computing and its business implications, Customer Relationship Management, Data and Information Quality Management, Data Exchange Issues and Agile Supply Chain, Data Life Cycle in Products and Processes, Data Mining and Business Intelligence, Data Models for Production Systems and Services, Database Management, Digital Libraries/Multimedia Information Systems, Distributed Information Systems, e-Learning, e-Commerce, e-Business and e-Government, Enterprise Architecture and Enterprise Systems, Environmental Management and Green IT, Governance of Information Management etc.


The conference is also a chance to exchange culture


On the sidelines of the academic activities, scholars and experts also took part in the city tour, sightseeing Ha Long Bay, enjoying Vietnamese cuisine and culture during the reception. This is not only a chance for academic exchange but also a good opportunity for scholars and experts to have a broader view of Vietnam and expand the network of partnership.
