May 18th 2014, together with other VNU’s members, the University of Economics and Business has actively participated the Science and Technology Festival held for the first time.
In the determination of becoming a research-oriented university, the VNU University of Economics and Business (UEB) always considers scientific research as one of the key activities. The UEB leaders encouraged university members to participate in research and creativity. Particularly, the university pays attention on developing strong research teams.

To 2014, Vietnam National University Hanoi has over 80 strong research teams at different levels. In which, there are 16 teams organized as major research teams at VNU level.

At a conference on “Developing strong research teams” held on May 17th, UEB Rector Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son has pointed out two key conditions for a steady research team. Those are favorable environment and the leader’s role. Accordingly, the team leader is required to be able to clarify research direction in long term; connect and guide other members in common activities; seek the funding for the team activity by his prestige and relationship.

On the same day, at Science and Technology Festival, the UEB exhibited nearly 40 typical scientific products by the UEB faculty and staff. The publications has received the attention of numerous visitors. Especially, with three collections of scientific products (typical books, students researches and articles published in international journals based on ISI/Scopus databases), the university again confirmed the accuracy in development direction.

The university also welcomed the VNU leader to visit the UEB’s stall. VNU Vice President Prof.Dr. Nguyen Huu Duc appreciated the research outcomes, which showed the devotion in scientific research and the wise leadership of the management board.

Recently, at the thirteenth session of the National Assembly, Science and Technology Law (amended) by the National Assembly has approved; which stipulates that May 18 is the annual Science and Technology Day of Vietnam. Science and Technology Day is not only to honor scientists and scientific and technological achievements, propagate science knowledge, but also to raise awareness and stimulate Vietnamese intellectual pride and creative labor, especially among younger generation.
