UEB: Opening ceremony, 2011-2012 academic year

On 15th September 2011, VNU - University of Economics and Business organized an opening ceremony for the 2011 - 2012 academic year.


Many distinguished guests and representatives of different enterprises attended  the ceremony, including Mr. Allaster Cox - Australian Ambassador in Vietnam; Mr. Alistair Crozier - New Zealand’s Deputy Head of Mission;  Assoc.Prof.PhD. Phung Xuan Nha - VNU Vice President; as well as representatives of VNU’s units, domestic and international organizations, and UEB’s partners. Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Hong Son - UEB Rector and all the staff, faculty and students of the university were present at the ceremony.

In his opening speech for the new academic year, Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Hong Son expressed his gratitude to all the guests for attending the ceremony and welcomed 457 new students of QH-2011-E course. Addressing the new students the Rector said: "2011 - 2012 is your first academic year at UEB, therefore you should straight away be aware of your situation in the  new environment at university and should select your own suitable personal study method and research. The university and all faculties are always ready to support you during the course". Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Hong Son emphasized: "In the 2011 – 2012 academic year, the University is celebrating its 40th anniversary of tradition and 5years of establishment. The University continues to fulfill its mission and strategy to create distinction for its academic and research products, which have high practicability and which affirm the university’s reputation. We believe that UEB will gain other successes in the new academic year with the effort and enthusiasm of UEB staff, faculty and students, as well as the support of leaders of ministries, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and UEB’s partners.”
At the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.PhD. Phung Xuan Nha - VNU Vice President expressed high appreciation for the effort and achievement of the university over the last academic year. He said: “The University of Economics and Business should be aware of its mission in the new academic year and should identify it clearly and definitely. The University needs to consider its development in both width and depth, and needs to pay attention to the expansion of advantageous training majors, focusing on those of high quality and of international standards, accelerating the achievements in scientific research to build interdisciplinary research groups to improve the practicability of research results and to increase the output efficiency so that it meets  the actual requirements of enterprises”. Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Hong Son said that he expected that the University would achieve further success, contributing to the development of VNU.

 

New Zealand’s Deputy Head of Mission - Mr. Alistair Crozier expresses his pleasure to cooperate with the VNU - UEB

Also at the ceremony, Dr. Kannan Kaniah Manikam - Director of South East Asia, Middlesex University (UK) and Mr. Alistair Crozier - New Zealand’s Deputy Head of Mission in Vietnam offered some information about joint training courses and expressed their pleasure to cooperate with the UEB.

 

Dr. Kannan Kaniah Manikam reflects on the benefits students will  enjoy when entering cooperative training programs of Middlesex University.

On this occasion, UEB Leaders awarded 24 outstanding students for their good results in study and other activities.

 

UEB Rector - Assoc.Prof.PhD. Nguyen Hong Son presents the  award for the best student in the university entrance examination for UEB in 2011.

PhD. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh - UEB Vice Rector presents awards for students having good study results.

Representative organizations and enterprises who are UEB’s partners offer many scholarships for UEB students.

Representing the domestic partners of UEB, Mr. Tran Manh Canh - Deputy General Director of Hanoi Trade Corporation said: “We are always ready to cooperate with UEB in organizing internships for students andd in receiving those who wish to work in our company. We hope that the cooperation between the two sides will become increasingly close”.


On behalf of QH-2011-E students, Tran Ha Uyen said: “The University of Economics and Business is known as a prestigious university, not only in international cooperation but also in the connection between lecturers and students, and among its members. It significances very meaningful for us. We promise to strive to contribute to the development of UEB as well as to VNU”
