Opening ceremony of MPPM joint training program of University of Economics and Business - VNU and Uppsala University (Sweden)

University of Economics and Business - VNU and Uppsala University (Sweden) organized the opening ceremony of MPPM (Master of Public Management) co-operated training program between the two universities on 2/4/2010.


Participating in the ceremony were Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Chief of Head of Mornitoring Office of the Communist Party's Programme 165; Madam Marie Ottosson, Minister, Deputy Head of Mission - Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam; representatives from SIDA, SIPU International AB; Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vu Minh Giang - Vice President of VNU; Ms. Karin Thellenberg, Project Manager; Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - Presedent of UEB and many lecturers, students of intake 1 and 2 of the program.

Talking at the ceremony, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Xuan Son - Chief of Head of Mornitoring Office of the Communist Party's Programme 165 congratulated new students and introduced the Party's Programme 165. He emphasized: “165 is an important programme which aims to train major officers which has been drew the interest of Central Party. Under the Programme 165, MPPM cooperated training program between University of Economics and Business - VNU and Uppsala University Sweden has an extremely important significance in training managers and leaders for public areas of the country in the future… On behalf of Communist Party Mornitoring Office, I would like to express my sincere thanks to UEB for selecting a prestigious and reliable partner, which has a high rank of the world’s universities - Uppsala University (Sweden) to implement the program.”

Assoc.Prof.Dr.Sc. Vu Minh Giang - Vice President of VNU also congratulated students of intake 2 and hope that they would over come ahead challenges to finish the course. He spoke: “With its prestige of organizing high-qualified and international standardized training programs in economics, policy analyses, the University of Economics and Business - VNU has cooperated with Top 100 of the world’s universities - Uppsala University under the support of Programme 165 monitoring office and VNU’s guide. I believe that the program would be successful, building a base for the next programs of VNU under Programme165”.

On behalf of UEB board, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha gave his warm congratulations to new students and expressed his honor when University of Economics and Business becomes the first university of VNU to implement the training program under Programme 165. He committed that UEB would fulfill the planned schedule to respond to the belief of Central Mornitoring Office and UEB’s partners.

This event has marked an important progress in partner development of University of Economics and Business - VNU with other major universities of the world, particularly with Uppsala University (Sweden); it also affirms the cooperative program has met the developing social requirements as well as positively contribute to the traditional partnership of Sweden and Vietnam. This was the first time when a leading Swedish university collaborates with a university of Vietnam in training and education to organize a program which award the master degree to State officers; university lectures or managers of State owned enterprises.

Madam Marie Ottosson, Minister, Deputy Head of Mission - Embassy of Sweden in Vietnam delivers a speech at the ceremony, which emphasizes the role of public officers and suggests a belief on future public leaders and managers.

 

Representatives of the two universities, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha and Ms. Karin Thellenberg drum to open the new course.
