Six UEB students receive the 2009 SMBC scholarship

On 3rd March 2009, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) coordinated with Institute of International Education (IIE) and SMBC Global Foundation to organize a ceremony to award scholarships to 45 students (30 from VNU and 15 from Hanoi University) who attained excellent scholastic achievements. Each scholarship is worth 200 USD/ academic year.


There are 6 students from UEB who are the recipients of the scholarship among a total of 30 students from VNU. They are:

1. Ngo Hoai Bac, QH-2005-E, Faculty of Finance & Banking;

2. Nguyen Thi Huyen, QH-2006-E, Faculty of Finance & Banking;

3. Duong Ngoc Anh, QH-2007-E (honor program), Faculty of International Business and Economics;

4. Vu Thi Thuy Dung,QH-2005-E, Faculty of International Business and Economics;

5. Ha Huong Giang, QH-2005-E, Faculty of Finance & Banking;

6. Pham Thi Hoa, QH-2005-E (honor program), Faculty of International Business and Economics.

This is the third year in a row; the SMBC Global Foundation donates the SMBC scholarship to excellent students who are studying at leading universities in Vietnam. Apart from donating finance aid to students, the scholarship program promotes close relationship between the SMBC Global Foundation and the group of nations which jointly take part in this program.

Addressing at the ceremony, Dr. Pham Quang Hung, Vice President of the VNU congratulated the 45 excellent students who received the scholarship from the SMBC this time and he also expressed his gratitude to the meaningful support of the Global Foundation as well as the effective coordination of the Institute of International Education in Vietnam.

During the ceremony, representatives from SMBC Global Foundation, Institute of International Education and Vietnam National University, Hanoi handed award certificates and flowers to the 45 students.
