I. GENERAL INFORMATION
Over the past 40 years, the Faculty of Political Economy,
University of Economics and Business has become a leading educational and
research center in political economics and economic management of the country.
The faculty comprises of four departments namely: Political Economy Theory,
Economic Management, World Political Economy, History of Economic Thoughts and
History of Economics. The faculty teaching staff have credible academic
expertise and experience in training programs of economics, political economics
and economic management from bachelor to doctoral degrees. Thousands of
graduate from the Faculty of Political Economy are working in the Communist
Party’s and the Government’s agencies; research institutes, universities and
enterprises.
Faculty's members and students have hundreds of articles posted in
national and international journals. The Faculty of Political Economy has conducted
various research projects at UEB level, VNU level and state level. Student
research activities are carried out regularly and gained valuable research
awards (from the Ministry of Education and Vietnam National University). The
scientific research activities have made great contribution to improving the
training quality and solving practical issues.
Strategic partners of the faculty are the Institute of World
Economics and Politics (IWEP), the Vietnam Institute of Economics, ASEAN Study
Institute, Central Institute of Economic Management, KDI University (Korea),
Southern Taiwan University (Taiwan), Renmin University of China, Kyoto
University (Japan) etc.

The research outcomes of the Faculty focus on issues relating to
the teaching content of the departments (Political Economy on transitional
economy and economic renovation, Industrialization and modernization, Economic
sectors, Income distribution in Vietnam, Economic theories etc.), and urgent
economic issues of Vietnam (the role of the Government in the process of
international economic integration, building the institutionalization of market
economy in Vietnam, developing the market of technological science…).
VII. COOPERATION AND DEVELOPMENT
- The Faculty has a close
relationship with traditional partners inside and outside the VNU-UEB, such as
the Institute of World Economics and Politics (IWEP), the Economics Institute
of Vietnam, and universities in the USA, the UK, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan,
etc.
- In the coming period,
along with consolidating and developing relationships with traditional
partners, the Faculty will promote the relationships with domestic and
international partners to serve the training and research activities. New
partnerships with domestic and prestigious international organizations from
China, Russia, Germany, Laos and Cambodia will be established. Short-term
courses will be opened.
VIII. DEVELOPMENT ORIENTATION
By 2022, the Faculty of
Political Economy will remained as the leading educational and research center
in political economics in Vietnam. Additionally, the Faculty will strive to
become a well-known educational center in political and economic management
among Asian countries
- The Faculty will participate
in international cooperation in terms of training and researching
- The Faculty will deeply
involve in providing consultancy for Government agencies on socio-economic
policies.
