University of Economics and Business

Bachelor’s degree is the start of a new journey

The following is the speech by Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - Rector of VNU University of Economics and Business at Graduation Ceremony 2013.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Phung Xuan Nha, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi!
Distinguished guests, my fellow teachers, students and parents,
Ladies and gentlemen!
First of all,  on behalf of UEB Board of Management, I would like to thank the President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, distinguished guests, parents and teachers for being here today. May you all good health.
I especially welcome and congratulate the new bachelors of QH-2009-E of the VNU University of Economics and Business. You are the most important persons at this ceremony, who deserve to honor for making a great effort to study during the last four years.
My dear new bachelors!
Being  granted a bachelors’ degree, you had to keep trying unceasingly to study and improve yourself. I believe that this is your first success on the way to pursue the career that you have chosen. You are the pride of the UEB. I am pleasant to be here to share such honor with you and your families.
Today is a special day, an important milestone of your life, a beginning for a new journey to the open world to make your dream come true.
Your experience in such a dynamic and professional environment as VNU-UEB during the last several years brings both challenges and advantages. I believe that the knowledge, skills, creative thought, the bravery and activeness will encourage your confidence and steadiness in your life and career to take opportunities for yourself. However, that does not mean that your study should end here.
In the context of globalization and knowledge economy with rapid development of science and technologies, in order not to be left behind, you should “study, study more, study forever” (Vladimir Ilyich Lenin). Learning forever is the key of success. Likely, Maxim Gorky considered  that greatest university is life.
The second factor to be successful depends on which path you choose and how hard you try. You may progress slowly but never step back, and the success is eventually. The enthusiasm, fortitude and patience are essential to everyone to be successful. Last but not least, as you walk on your own journey, you should always remind yourself that “accomplishment will prove to be a journey, not a destination” as Dwight D. Eisenhower said, to keep trying to discover and conquer new heights, perfecting yourself and contributing to the society.
For any position you will take and wherever you are, remember that you are an inseparable part of the big family VNU-UEB. The university will always have trust in you, stand ready to support and look forwards to your success. The VNU-UEB will always wide open door for you to return to continue to study, seek opportunities or contribute to our university, developing the UEB to international level.
On this occasion, on behalf of the UEB’s Party Executive Committee and Board of Management, I would like to express special thank to related managerial bodies of all levels, especially VNU Board of Presidents for their great support, local and foreign partners for your effective companion and cooperation, as well as the UEB lecturers and staff for your great contribution in implementing the university’s mission of providing high-qualified human resource for society.
Finally, I would like to wish all the faculties, new bachelors and their parents, , ladies and gentlemen good health, happiness and success.
Thank you!
