In terms of social needs, Accounting and Auditing is a major in great demand. Even in countries with developed market economy, the demand and number of bachelors in Accounting are always at the top of all majors. In American universities, the need for Accounting and Auditing is expected to grow  about 18% per year, from 2006 to 2016. The recent statistics of National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) shows that Accounting is only ranking after Finance among the 8 most popular majors in America. In this context, Vietnam’s economy is in a period of being opened and integrated into world economy, which causes a series of urgent issues to deal with, including critical shortage of highly qualified accountants.
The VNU has allowed the UEB to organize undergraduate training in Accounting and Auditing since 2010 and so far, the first graduates have been recognized and highly appreciated in terms of knowledge, skills and attitudes to works. Moreover, Accounting and Auditing is one of the most important majors of economic block. Thus, Accounting and Auditing is planned to become the main major of the UEB, in both undergraduate and postgraduate training.
The establishment of Faculty of Accounting and Auditing on the basis of Department of Accounting and Auditing under Faculty of Finance and Banking, VNU-UEB is consistent with social needs and UEB’s development; and this is the affirmation for the UEB’s facilitation and attention to Accounting and Auditing as well.
- To be newly formed in November, 2014 but through the UEB’s website, we found that the faculty has had operations in depth, especially the collaboration with enterprises. Could you give us more information for this?
That’s right. In spite of operating independently as a faculty under the VNU-UEB recently, we have had collaboration with businesses and other training partners. Specifically, we received scholarship for students with a total value of 500 million VND from Sunway Hanu. We also got the copyright sponsor for Virtual Accounting Lab ACPro from Joint Stock Company ACMAN and scholarship from ACCA valued at approximately 360 million VND. Besides, we received supports from partners as accounting software companies such as Fast Software Company (FAST) and Joint Stock Company Misa. More especifically, we have just cooperated with Vietnam Association of Public Accountants (VACPA) and JSC Vietnam Resources (Vietsourcing) to hold the 4^th launching ceremony of the conquest in career peak of Accounting - Auditing - Finance for students in Accounting and Auditing, Finance and Banking.
The cooperation with businesses and partners is very important. Faculty of Accounting and Auditing aims at performing 2 main training goals: practical and international orientation. With close link with businesses as the role of employers, service companies, software companies or training units of international programs, we hope to bring practical benefits for students through variety of learning opportunities, practical approach opportunities, apprentice, self-assertion… In the coming time, we will further strengthen the cooperation with partners, especially in depth. We will develop practical and specific action plans in order to create the close connection between the UEB and society, students and enterprises.

- What are the plans of Faculty of Accounting and Auditing for 2015, Sir?
The year 2015 is very important to Faculty of Accounting and Auditing. In this year, we not only try to complete organizational structure and human resource but also build development strategies for the faculty in accordance with UEB’s development orientation. In 2015, we primarily focus on formal university training and enhancing teaching and learning quality for students. We complete training program with some specialized departments only in the UEB such as “The current issues of Accounting”, “Project Audit” together with programs of field trips and internships in businesses as well as invite the best accountants, excellent national auditors… to teach and share experiences with students before their graduation. We also develop postgraduate training strategies in Accounting and Auditing as expected timelines, including: Master training from 2016, doctor of philosophy training from 2020 to provide highly qualified human resources in Accounting and Auditing, Tax for different types of enterprises, financial consulting organizations, international projects in Vietnam… In 2015, we also begin to implement short-term training programs to meet the demand of updating and improving knowledge, skills of individuals, organizations and businesses. Besides, we will pay attention to cooperation to develop Faculty of Accounting and Auditing a strong unit under the UEB in applied researches and collaboration with partners inside and outside Vietnam.
