Launching Thriive project - period 9 (2013 - 2015)

After 8 periods of implementation, Thriive project has gained the belief of many enterprises.
On Aug 8, 2013, Center for Economic Development Studies (CEDS), VNU University of Economics and Businesses has organized a workshop to provide the information on the Thriive project - for supporting small businesses to get no-interest loan and to repay by charity-period 9 (2013- 2015).


Thriive is a cooperative program between the Center for Economic Development Studies, VNU- UEB and Thriive Inc. (USA) to support small businesses with interest-free loans for the purchase of machinery, equipment, business development and social responsibility enhancement. The aim of this loan is to stimulate business growth, create employment opportunities and positive social impact.


With the core value of "Developing business, assisting the community", the aim of this loan is to stimulate businesses growth, create employment opportunities and positive social impact. Loans are paid back within two years by offering freely products / services of the business with equal value of the original loan to disadvantaged people. In addition, during the period of 2-year-project, owners of the enterprises will join 2 free training course to supplement the knowledge and experience in managing production and using loans effectively. Businesses Selection will start in September and the disbursement takes place in December each year.

The organizers introduced Thriive project information for enterprises in the program.


At the workshop, the organizers provided detailed information on Thriive, development, achievements through 8 periods from 2005 up to now, with 80 times of lending, 66 businesses have loaned and the total amount is $760,000. The project has helped create job opportunities for 1,200 employees, nearly 96,000 poor people in 21 northern provinces have received charitable products and services from the program.


With that goal, the workshop has attracted great attention from many businesses, social organizations in Hanoi and surrounding areas, and many media agencies. The businesses which involved this time are various, from training business, handicrafts manufacturers to information technology enterprises...


Next, the coordinator of the program - Ms Doan Thanh Hai provided detail guidance for businesses about program eligibility, how to fill in the profiles, etc... Discussing and answering questions in business seminars, representatives who have been involved in the Thriive project enthusiastically share their experiences so that businesses can get the most of efficiency from this project.

In 2013, phase 9 of the project will be conducted. It is expected that there will be around 12-14 business getting loan from the program. Loans are up to 210 million per business.
