UEB strengthens the partnership with Japanese universities

From 8th to 17th March 2012, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son - UEB Rector led a delegation to participate in a series of activities held in Japan.


These activities include international workshop on the Greater Mekong Sub-region, a conference of principals of Vietnam and Japan G-30 universities, visits to several Japanese universities to strengthen the cooperative relationship with these universities.
Included in the delegation was Dr. Nguyen Dang Minh - Vice Director of Center for Business Administration, VNU-UEB.
At the workshop “The Greater Mekong Sub-region, Development Plan to bridge the ASEAN Divide” held at Ritsumeikan University, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Hong Son delivered a speech on “Economic Cooperation Through GMS Development Plan and Vietnam”. The presentation summarized the GMS cooperation and the active participation of Vietnam in this process. Participants at the workshop enthusiastically discussed the reports from other countries such as Japan, China, Singapore, Thailand, Laos and Cambodia as well as international organizations such as JICA, Jetro... The involvement of VNU University of Economics and Business in this workshop has contributed an analysis and recommendations to promote sustainable partnerships in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, thereby contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam’s economy and expanding the research network of economics and business with scholars in the area.

The UEB Rector also spoke at a meeting of principals of Vietnam - Japan held in Kyoto University. The speech on “Renovating university autonomy, promoting international cooperation at VNU University of Economics and Business” prompted energetic discussion and agreement at the workshop.
In addition, the UEB delegates had bilateral working sessions with a number of leaders including those from Kyoto University Faculty of Economics, International Cooperation Department - Nagoya University, Yokohama University; Chiba University of Commerce and Prof. Takkakaw - Head of Asian Core Program.  At these meetings, the UEB emphasized the following content:
- Establishing partnerships and proposing the research cooperation of the UEB with the Faculty of Economics, Kyoto University, Nagoya University, Yokohama University. To this end, the partner universities committed to visit the UEB for specific working frameworks.
- Faculty and students exchanges with Nagoya University and Yokohama University. These universities are ready and willing to visit UEB for signing cooperation agreements in the near future.
- Negotiating with Professor Takakuwa, Head of Asian Core Program research team on the hosting of the ASIAN CORE PROGRAM international conference at UEB. The professor has confirmed the support of Japanese researchers in participating in co-publishing of outstanding research achievements in Vietnam.
- Discussions on faculty and students exchange with Chiba University of Commerce.

The above working sessions have contributed to promoting the image of the VNU University of Economics and Business in the Land of the Rising Sun, as well as promoting the comprehensive cooperation between the university with other partners in Japan.
